I wonder if I become a commercial pilot if I can get a commission to become a military pilot w/o a Bachelor's? (I say military because I don't know what branch I want to be in!) And I'll try not to be too big of a jackass.

it isn't so much which is fastest/easiest, but which would get you that Commission in the first place. For fixed wing, you need a 4 year degree in a HARD science like Engineering or computer science. A Phliosphy degree will NOT be competitive for Comissioning in the military, let alone for a Aviation slot.

The Army alone has Warrant Officer positions(no 4 year degree necessary) for Helo pilots.

trying to take shortcuts isn't goingt o get you a coveted Aviationslot. they want people who go above and beyond what is required, the ones who show by their actions that they truly want this.

besides, the physical requirements for Aviation are stricter than any other field. you might not even get a shot at it period, even with the right degree.

I would hate to put down a particular major because there are always people that are genuinely interested but think about the majors of Division 1 student athletes. I am talking about the ones that have a good shot at being pros and they will be rich regardless of what they study. I believe the most common major for those with demanding schedule outside of classroom is communications. By the way, I do not think economics is the easiest. Business or marketing is probably easier than economics in my opinion. Then again, there are highly motivated individuals in those majors who will become successful.

Well, at my college, all the students that were involved with the college sports would major in Communications. Apparently, it is very easy, even the jocks could pass the classes.

A 'commendable' bachelor's degree is one that is earned at an accredited institution. If you take the max amount of units every semester, including winter and summer sessions, you could be out in 3 years.

I got a bachelor's in Criminal Justice and the minimum amount of units to graduate was 120. That would mean you would have to take 18 units per semester, for a total of 36 per year and take 2 classes every summer for 2 of the years. That would total 120 units. It would be hard to finish in under 3 years.

Good luck!

P.S. You don't want to do Political Science...talk about a snooze fest.

In Kinesiology or Physical Education. That is if you're reasonably fit or can become fit without much trouble.

You'll be competing against people who may not be very academically inclined but they are usually quite fit so be physically prepared. You'll need to be so to be an officer anyway so getting fit will serve a double purpose for you.

You did get your facts straight. You'll need at least a bachelor's degree. You may want to look for a college with an Air Force ROTC program too so you'll get commissioned upon your graduation. You'll still have to undergo flight training afterward but you'll be ahead of the game...

All of them have general education requirements to fulfill, and those take a good two years. The college I went to 10 years ago had to create a program to actually get students out in the 4 years it's supposed to take!
I suggest you get a college catalog and look all this up, do some comparisons between different majors. Last I recall, the sciences & maths required a few more courses than 'average'. Expect at least 20 classes for general ed, another 12 or more for your major, and then electives. Good luck, but you really need a college catalog that lists all this for you.

Yes you have to have a 4 year degree. You better make sure you end up with a 3.8 or better GPA from a university. Then you have to take the officer qualification exam and flight officer exam. If you score high enough and you pass the physical exam, you may be offered a position in the officer candidate school.

Earning money quickly doesn't have anything to do with education. Although having a bachelor's degree will help you in securing a nice job, it is still no guarantee that you can make money quickly. It all depends on your talent combined with some good luck and perfect timing. You can be like Bill Gates who used to be a college dropout but who managed to make himself the world's richest person. On the other hand, you can be one of the most intelligent but didn't make money just like Albert Einstein.

Best way is to start in high school. You will have to make good grades, usually average out above a "B", with no failing grades or character issues. You will have to excell in physics, chemistry, mathematics, etc. You'll have to be active in extra-curricular activities. You will have to get in good with your school counselor to let them know what your goals are. In turn, you will have to lobby one of your US Senators to nominate you as a candidate for an education at one of the military service academies. If you are one of the few who are chosen to be a student cadet, you will have to go through 4 years of Hell, with no slip-up's (or very few minor ones), be of high character & mentally stable. There is no easy way to become a military pilot. But the best way to start is while you are in high school.

Probably a degree in General Studies, but if you try to get a real job in civilian life, it is virtually useless, because you will be a jack of all trades, but a master of none.
