Man, I would "Cram" like crazy, it's better to go in groggy with a head of information, than to go in refreshed, and a head full of "Stupid".

When it comes to studying, I find the method below works the best
1) Try to complete most or all of your studying a day before your test. If you can get your hands on past years exams, do them as an exercise. Doing old exams are really the best way to conclude your studying.
2) On the night before, do an overview of the studying you have done previously. Again, if you can do old exams without too much difficulty, you are ready for the test.
3) Study up until you begin to feel tired, but dont stay up too
late. After you have reached the point where you are mentally tired, you are better off just going to sleep and get a good rest.
4) The next day, make sure you have a good breakfast (and lunch) , so you have plenty of energy for the test.
5) Finally, cramming for an exam does not work. Neither does cheating.
Good luck

no short answer here-
first - when you take notes - recopy them within 8 hours of class - why? because of the 100% you forget in 30 days - your first 50% goes in 8 hours - and WHAT did that squiggly line mean???
second - reread your notes (not memorize) each night before you retire - keep the information fresh in the grey matter(from the last test to here)
third - get that GOOD nights sleep AND a super breakfast
because while our muscles can convert fat into energy
our brains need carbs to fuel up
fourth - consider taking B-12 tablet under your tongue (1,000 mcg)
and get the Methylcobalamin - not the cyanocobalamin
this helps the brain to think!!!!!
and to energize it - take a vitamin C pill with any B vitamins
(instead of 4+4 it's like 4 times 4 for the benefit)
hope the test is not on Friday - but you will be prepped for the next one (and read ahead in your book - so you have an idea what the prof is teaching on)
best of luck!
PS had a friend in college stayed up to study
5AM - has everything ready for economics - nailed down
6 AM - getting a little fuzzy
7AM breakfast - can't remember where the dining hall is
8 AM - can print first name ( flagged the final exam - oh NO!)

If I had to pick one or the other, I'd say studying is more important. If you don't know the material, it won't matter how well rested you are.
That being said, I cannot study when I'm tired. If I have an hour to study/sleep and I'm tired, I'll sleep for 45 minutes and cram like a maniac for the test for the final 15 minutes.

I used to think staying up and cramming would be better... now even if I don't feel 100% prepared for a test, I go for the sleep.

A case can be made for either, but I'd say get good sleep. Sure you can cram your head with facts, but those facts won't do anything if your brain is too tired to use them.
You'll have more common sense and be more intuitive if you are fully-rested.
There are more things that can go wrong if you deprive yourself of sleep than if you sacrifice sleep for a little extra study time.

you should sleep well, coz' if you don't sleep well, then you would not have any energy to do your test.
Once, when I was in college, I studied through the whole night without sleeping. And the next day, I found myself drooling on my exam paper when the exam bell rang.

I always did my best on tests when I learned the info, went and did something else (sleep?)... completely forgot the info... then came back and studied it again. After forgetting and then refreshing the subject matter it seemed to stick in my mind the best!

Both are.
But, no matter how well you are studied up, if you do not sleep well enough - it will most definitely affect your test results - in a negative way.
So, study well, but remember to get to sleep in time.
Also, eating a light dinner, and drinking enough water and fruit juices will help concentrate ;)
