Britain's military sucks???

Question

Why is it that the Brit's think that they are better than the rest of the world (especially americans). Is it because they are jealous that the USA told them to F off and started their own country????

Just chill. I just wanted to see how many answers I would get. I saw a question like this once and it had like 90 answers. Anyway, I personally respect Britain because they have been around for so long and I would like to have a British accent. I hate Austin Powers though.

I'm not American by birth, I'm a naterulized citizen. I've also had plenty of experience with the British.

First, given it's size, the British military can pack a wallop. The SAS and its less hyped but more formidable Boat Service are truely impressive.

The reason British people feel they are better than AMericans is because many of them have weird ideas about how Americans really are, based mostly on believing TV sitcoms accurately portray AMerica and from hearing arrogant american intelectuals puting down the rest of America. Also, Europeans in general tend to feal that secularism is inherantly superior to religious belief and that only morons would be genuinely religious. Knowing that many Americans are devoted Christians, they feel they must be morons.

Culturally, the fairness and rightness of socialism is also accepted by most Western Europeans as a moral given; which is not an idea held by the majority of AMericans. This also makes them feel Americans are morons in much the same way Americans would regard a culture where babies could be exposed in the old ROman fashion as retarded, regardless of its other qualities.

Lastly, the British speak the same language as AMericans with minor variations. Because England is the lead country in the UK, they believe their version of English is the proper one. Rather than accounting the differences to 300 years of seperation, they feel it is due to stupidity. The same is true with American spellings. (Color instead of colour, Check instead of Cheque, and one that annoys even me - Nite instead of Night.)

actually the Brits don't think they are better then the rest of the world. and in reference to the Americans telling the Brits to f off and starting there own country to what are u referring? if u are talking about the British empire then believe me the British people couldn't care less about that as the empire is long lost and forgotten here.
as for the military in the UK i believe that we have a very good military force maybe not numbers and size but Brittan has had some of the greatest military minds and the navy is probably one of the best strategically in the world due to the hundreds of years defending the island

British military power is not a joke...despite being a relatively small nation compared to the US, Britain's arsenal of weapons and troops can be just as good as any American ones. Well of course the size of America's army is certainly overpowering when counted but look at Iraq now??? It still has a hard time quelling the resistance...

That and us having taken over as the big Kahuna in the world that Britain once was (just 65 years ago, not quite even a lifetime!). In another 65 years, our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will feel the same way about the Chinese, the way the Brits feel about us Americans right now. "As the world turns" indeed!

first of all the british have nothing to be jealouse about as there all very proud to be british for all kinds of reasons,second the u.s.a as you have pointed out there that the u.s.a started there own country,wel actualy the u.s dident exist then, them people who told britain to f off as you put it were british colanists in america to serve there country(britain)when they all decided they had enough and because there was that many of them they had enough to start there own country,and then spain got involved and then france and that made the british concede the war and the u.s must have bin an 100\1 shot to win that war.then not long after they formed the united states your first president geoge washington who was also britsish got elected.and another thing britain won 2 world wars along side america ,and even u.k today has 1 of the best armed forces in the world not to mention THEE best nucklear war ships in the world,also there place in the british comanwealth of nations which includes countrys such as canada,australia,new zealand,india,south africa and many many more .also not counting they have the best secret service in the world (mi5 and mi6)not mentioning the S.A.S.britain is certanly not a nation to be messed with by any country,nor is it a nation to be taken the piss out of its powers.theres lots of things americans dont know about them.

i agree with the first answer wholeheartedly as a Brit i would have no hesitation in taking up arms to protect Americans canadians and australians something i would do for no other country ( apart for my own of course ) and i think i can confidently say that for the vast majority here

in reality the ignorant are of that opinion, Nationalism and the accompanying whinging is everyday in each u . s .. Bull sh+t questions like S.B.S. v. SEALS etc.. etc.. are idiotic and infantile as its very uncommon for 2 opposing particular Forces to come back into contact with one yet another, and regardless of the truth that in the journey that they were to "get it on" the data could be kept categorised for years. search for more durable youthful grasshopper there are a range of circumstances of people being only as massive a ***** as British, yet Nationalism has a tendency to cloud ones sight.

Everyone thinks they are better than the rest of the world. Americans certainly think they are. So if jealousy is the cause of feelings of being better than others, as you insinuate, then what are YOU jealous of then? Hmm?

most Americans would fight for Great Britain and Australia in a second if they needed us. they are our cousins. they have a good military and do fine.
