They will be making a R/T version as well as the SRT8. I have heard they will be having a SXT with the 3.5L V6 Highout put as well. If you really want a SRT8 version you better get your name in at your dealer as people including myself have placed my name on order for a SRT8 version. I have no guarantee of getting my hands on a SRT 8 Challenger. I had to place down $10,000 (fully refundable) at my local Dodge Dealer to just have a right to have my name in for a draw for 3 - Dodge Challenger SRT8 versions at this particular dealership.

My odds are not great as of last month there are a total of 25 people that have placed $10,000 down and have there name in the draw. If my name is not picked I get my $10K back and have to search other dealerships in the country.

You maybe lucky in your location that your dealer got more SRT8 versions from Dodge. Some dealers may not even get there hands on a SRT8 version.

I would agree to stick with a SRT8 version if you can afford it as the 6.1L Hemi is a awesome motor with its 425HP! I would say the R/T version will be pretty potent as well with either 340 or 350HP (nothing to sneeze about) as the Challenger will be a lighter vehicle than the 300, Charger and Magnum's. I could see mid to low 5 sec's 0-60 with the 5.7L Hemi!

I know from experience the 5.7L Hemi in my 05 Magnum RT AWD was a monster! When I test drove a 06 Magnum SRT8 a year later.....I was power hungry and wow the SRT8 has some serious nuts! The fuel mileage from the R/T to SRT 8 is fairly minimal maybe 2 to 3mpg difference!

It is defenitely coming out in the R/T platform. There is still some debate on whether Daimler/Chrysler will produce the SRT version or just offer a larger motor.

We don't really know yet, there hasn't been much released on it. I know that there will be an SRT version, but I think that it may be the only version. It comes with the larger Hemi and all of the fancy options.

Best option is wait and see all too often the high $$$ units are snapped up before you can weigh the choices. Patience might be the best for now. I owned a 70 R/T 440 with 727 slapstick in it. Now i wish i had kept it and gotten rid of my 1st ex...oops! did both!
