Have you ever broken up with someone to be with someone else and realize you made a terrible mistake. Did you really lose out?

No, but I dated one girl instead of another because I thought she was better looking.
In the end, no, I didn't really "lose" out, because I learned a lot about choosing the right girl. It was a learning experience, as is every "mistake" in life.

I've been lucky in my life. I've watched my friends make stupid mistakes in their relationships, and I've learned lessons from it... even when they didn't! So I have never had this happen to me, but I have seen it lots of times. I have to admit that in some cases the person they dumped was not the right person for them... but the person they dumped the original for was never "the one" either. It is a slippery slope to put yourself on.

What I'll never understand is why anyone would ever go out with someone who dumped someone else to go out with them. If the person who did the dumping was unwilling or unable to maintain their old relationship, what makes someone think they'll be any different? The best indicator for the present is the past, though it is possible to change things...

Maybe you made a mistake. It happens. The best thing you can do is learn from your mistake and think it through next time. In any relationship, you need to use BOTH: your heart AND your brain. If you are not serious about a relationship, then don't get into one in the first place. If you do, take it seriously. Real love is something that you build, develop, and work on. It is never based on a whim or a "maybe." So long as you learn from your mistake, you do not have to be condemned to repeat the past.

Good luck!

One should learn from mistakes. Its not about losing of winning but rather learning. Its best to learn to treasure what you have and don't think the grass is always greener over the fence.

Yes, because I married the one I broke up with only to end up in divorce 13 years later. I'm much happier now...

I am not sure...I try not to think about things like that...Cause otherwise I would go crazy...So if I had missed out on anything...I don't know and don't want to know because I am happy with my life.

Sometimes yeah but then I think that everything happens for a reason, so there was a reason why I did whatever I did.
