past four months saying that he's fine and very busy. I didnt want to give up hope...I love him so much it hurts.

This is something you should ask your "love" - if he'd ever answer you back! Why not ask his friend what's up?
OR
You could say, enough's enough and move on, cause it kinda sounds like he has moved on already and just hasn't the courage to tell you!

If its been months like you say then its time for you to realize that he has moved on, and you should do the same I understand you say you love him its obvious you been waiting for months for only a e-mail, know you now he is fine because his friends says, so just move on somebody new will come along you ll see you deserve better.

Have you spoken to him on the telephone or in person during these months?
If not I would say it's probably over.

Move on! Otherwise he may just have a weak moment when he's lonely, invite you into his bed, and then leave you feeling REALLY bad afterwards when he rejects and ignores you again.
