The PV-GS29 only has a firewire port - the PV-GS59 has a USB port as well. To transfer the video you'll need a firewire card, but they're cheap and simple to install. You can capture and edit the video with Windows Movie Maker, but it's a bit limited as an editor and doesn't allow you to make DVDs. It's a good place to start though. Pinnacle Studio is a good editor when it works, but it's very unstable. For a cheap editor I'd look at AVS Video Editor ($40) or if you want something more advanced try Sony's Vegas Movie Studio Platinum ($120).

YOu need to use FireWire if your computer supports it. If not you need to buy a FireWire PCI card and install it in a free slot.

An alternative might work, there are DV to USB cables, but I'm not sure if the software will support this concept.

There is also a USB transfer connection from Turtle Beach that can take the signal from your AV cables, but the quality will drop a little.

Without more specific information about the camcorder it is difficult to give explicit advice. If you are going to post a question like this, then you might want to include the model number, etc for reference purposes.

Having said that, without the specifics of the camcorder I can only advise that you go to

http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/support/default.asp

and try to find your specific equipment, or to contact Panasonic directly via one of these methods

go to control panel, system icon, hardware tab on top, device manager button in middle, go down list look to see if your usb ports are installed and working correctly.

thats a good place to start.
