Or do you think they used "excessive deadly force" against the Clantons & McLaurys?

And how do you think it would be handled in Today's world?

Back then was when men were MEN. They had all the right in the world, they were the law. That group killed people, they brought it on theirselves. In todays world, it would be tied up in courts & theyd be free in a couple years! (The bad guys!)

This is 1881 we're talking about, the law & ethics were different back then.
Recorded facts have it that The Earps were looking for a gunfight, but what is not mentioned is that Ike Clanton was talking a lot of smack around Tombstone earlier in the week that he was going to kill any of the Earps or Doc Holiday if he saw them on the street, then Ike's brother & the McLaury's started to back Ike up, in a sense, they brought it upon themselves, & If The Earps & Doc Holiday had not faced them down, they might have made good on their threats. It's the Cowboys' who started it.

If it happened today, The Earps would probably have to face Internal Affairs, & suspension time, & Doc would have gone to prison, because he was not carrying a badge.

well...The Earps were not much better than the criminals of the time and Doc was a "wild card" at best...But once again it was the period in time that this happened...The Earps were trying to prove a point (more or less) and the Clantons were stupid enough to call their bluff...personally if I saw Doc Holiday coming down the street looking for me I do believe I would have given up my guns quitely to fight another time...the Earps were not really gun fighters but ole' Doc on the other hand was deadly and didn't give a damn either way. Yes they would have handled it differently today because if any of them had been left standing the lawsuits would have been going on forever not to mention the news stories...

The Earps went to arrest people who were breaking the law. The Clantons at al fired on the sheriff and his deputies in order to avoid arrest. The Earps returned fire to protect their lives. Then or now anyone, not just police, have the right to use deadly force when deadly force is used against them.

I think the Earps and Doc were in the right and that kind of street justice would work just fine today.

have self belief it. Gun fights are quickly son. 30 seconds is an prolonged time for one. maximum, and there have been no longer many Hollywood type shoot outs, a million/2 that. It merely takes one 2d to die while your coronary heart or ideas is blasted by ability of a shotgun. Your lifeless in the previous you hit the floor. It wasn't the flicks.

They did not fire the first shot and a court of the day absolved them.
I think today the outcome would be much the same, although more people would condemn their methods than did then.
