I keep visualizing even mundane things and mind ends up thinking about useless thoughts. for e.g i i have to open a door i visualize walking to the door , taking the key out of my pocket and then open the door. Meanwhile my thoughts also get drifted about the trouser color and my opinion about the trouser and if the trouser is not good the thought drifts to my financial situation etc. I want to use my mind only for creative purpose rather than think of mundane stuff. How can i do this.

You seem to have 2 goals: Controlling and calming your random thoughts, and making making them more productive. So I've addressed both:

* Calming Your Thoughts *
Relaxation exercises such as meditation are good for this. Exercises can be as simple as sitting calmly and breathing deeply for a few minutes, while you concentrate on relaxation and taking full breaths. In this state, thoughts will occur to you, but you don't worry about them. The main thing is to physically and mentally relax.

* Making Your Thoughts More Productive *
There are several big-picture things that you can do in order to better organize your thoughts, and make them more productive. To start, you could make a list of the following:

1. What are your interests, things you like to do (hobbies, activities)
2. What are your career goals, what jobs you'd like to move towards in the future?

Then gather materials related to your interests - books, magazines, videos, audio lectures, websites. As you become more engrossed in these items, more of your thoughts will move towards meeting your goals and interests, and become less random.

It's good to write things down so that you can review them later, such as on a weekly basis. You can carry a pocket notepad, or a pda with you to record your thoughts and interests.

Also note that random thoughts are not always pointless. You could be legitimately concerned about your appearance (trousers), and of course finances are important (although mundane!)

i think a lot too. you are probably just creative and your used to thinking about small, useless things. your mind wants to keep busy. when that happens, try to pick up a book, or turn on the tv or radio to change the subject in your mind.
