Oh no you hit upon a subject close to a chicagoans heart. Huge controversies around here -- hot peppers or no hot peppers? Ketchup on a hotdog? We eat all beef hotdogs so, yes, for me anyway. Celery salt? Yuck for me but some insist!
This is a chicago dog:
poppy seed bun
boiled hot dog
finely shredded lettuce
sweet pickle relish
plain mustard
tomato slices
sport peppers -- these are little medium hot peppers named not for sporting events but for the type of hybrid pepper they use
dill pickle slice
diced onion
sprinkle with celery salt
I know how do you fit all that on there, challenges challenges. We don't actually make these at home but it was fun talking about it.
