I cant help but be sick of all the people mothing off about the military when they know nothing about it! Anyone else feel the same way?

I mean how people keep making assumptions about the lives of military families, things that they say happen in Iraq when they have no idea what it's like. I have no problem with people voicing their opinon of the government or the war... but I do have a problem with them making comments like the troops are "blood thirsty" or "stupid for choosing to go to Iraq" or "thank God for dead soliders." It's insulting, but yes, I know my husband and his comrades fight for their right to speek freely... it just gets annoying when people are so misinformed.

Makes you realize how frightenly stupid some people are, doesn't it?

You know what though, most of them probably don't feel that way at all. In fact, they're probably just bored, awkward teenagers who have never kissed a girl (and likely will never see one naked). Getting people irritated is likely their only contact with normal people. They're just posting on a military board because they know people feel passionately and will answer them. (I know I'm guilty of giving them the time of day... but I enjoy toying with them. Gives me something to do in my off time.)

The rest... the truly scary conspiracy theorists and (I hate this term...) liberals are the ones who make me shake my head in disbelief.

The posts are entertaining though, because some of the answers are fantastic. People who are too afraid to dedicate their lives to their country make themselves feel better by believing that the military is like they see in the movies... some sort of evil secret society bent on destroying civilization. They can't comprehend that the truth is much more honorable (and honestly....) mundane than that.

Eh, they're goofy. Let 'em have their fun. We'll just keep having ours by screwing wtih them.

Hi, army wife here. My husband is about to deploy for the 3rd time with the 3rd Infantry Division. I am very proud of my husband service and support him 100% no matter how many times he deploys or how little time he gets at home. What I HATE THE MOST...more than yahoos mouthing off are politicians who think they know what is best but DONT. I read about them saying "troops want to come home" or "families are tired of deployments." Well they never asked any troops I know, or their families. The soldiers here want to deploy....they want to go do their jobs and not sit around garrison for the rest of their military career. And I am NOT tired of deployments....I love my husband and if he enjoys deploying then I am all for it. I wouldnt ask him to stay behind for me because that isnt what he wants to do. He is an 88M (a trucker basically) and loooooves those big trucks! Yes his job is dangerous but he loves to do it! And for politicians to speak on HIS behalf and on MY behalf is a slap in the face when they dont know what the FRICK they are talkin about! And the scary thing is, they make the decisions about funding. Dont even get me started on this $100billion war spending bill that they have set up for failure. Saying troops need to be home by fall 2008 in order to get the money. Oh..my....GAWD how can you be so stupid to tie the hands of the commanders and short change the troops all for their political agenda.

Thank you for asking the question!! (And for letting me vent).

Geez we can't say anything on here without getting more ignorant comments!

First, yes, I am incredibly tired of it. Please see my post "United States Armed Forces: Crash Course"...

She did not say people could not comment on the military-- but why would people say such horrible things about your troops??? It is unbelievable! And sir, if you want a say in where your tax money is going, then write your congressmen, don't take it out on us! That is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard!

AAUGH I am so irritated I can't even think straight right now... oh wait.... that also might have something to do with the fact that I just ended my 15 hour shift protecting your right to be on here making your rude and completely inappropriate comments.

Thanks to those who do support us... but I tell you, it is sad... I truly believed that America was behind their Armed Forces and every day I start to see more and more that they are not.

EDIT: How are we blood-thirsty? We are doing our job! And you think we do a lot of killing? What we do pales in comparison to what these people are doing to each other (and what they would do to you, if it weren't for us). You, sir, are a fool...

Yep. Their right to free speech was, and continues to be, protected by those who serve. I wish they would remember that. Just another reason why I favor compulsory national service.

ABSOLUTELY! Im in the Army and currently in the sandbox and nothing makes me angrier than a bunch of ignorant libs and hippies who ***** and whine and bad mouth the military, the president and basically the American way of life. If they dont like it they should know that no one is forcing them to be here. Me and my fellow Soldiers would be much happier if these people left the country. I personally dont like thinking that those are the people I defend and all they do is p!ss on us!

I am a wife of a soldier and I just ignore people like that. No sense in letting it bother me.

Mrs., you're right. There are entirely too many "wanna-be's" in here spouting off about things they don't understand, refuse to understand, and don't care about. In today's modern world, it's "me, me, me". All these folks care about is "what's in it for me", "what about my rights", "where's my tax dollars going", and anything else they can think of that only deals with their own sorry little lives. They don't realize/care/understand that members of the Armed Forces have given their lives throughout history so that they may come in here and spout off. They just want to cry.

Yes, they get on my nerves. Usually, I ignore stupid questions (Erudite and company), but sometimes I have to respond to them. (Gets me 2 points, but that's it *L*). Sometimes, I report them. Not that it does anything. It's too easy to change your profile in here.

Mrs., the best I can tell you is to ignore them. We can't educate them because they don't want to learn. We can't censor them, because they do have rights. All we can do is continue OUR support of the troops, regardless of where they are deployed. Let's keep in contact with our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines and let them know that we support them, love them, and wish them the best. We all want them to come home in one piece, but they have a mission to do.

Good luck to you and your husband.

I sure am. I really get tired of people who don't understand that we soldiers volunteered for this, so the mission and the soldier are synonymous.

Oh I get it, so you're not allowed to comment on the military unless your husband is in the forces.

Uh - Excuse me lady. My taxpayers dollars are paying for you and your family. I think I might want to have a say in where that money goes.

You might think p*ssng up billions of dollars against the wall that is Iraq is justified. I dont.

So am I not allowed to voice my opinion on here? I thought you guys were fighting for my 'freedom' over there. So whats the point in having freedom when your version of 'freedom' (ie Im not allowed to voice my opinion) quite frankly sucks.
