This is nice...that is all I can say...we do a lot of stuff while we are young...that we must learn and indeed move on. I know it was a lot for you, but you should not have felt guilty for 20 years..my Goodness...you should have done something about it sooner if it bothered you so much....good luck...If my kid came to me with something like that I don't know what I would do...but I will not encourage them on the confession ... as life is tough and you really CAN'T be that sensitive... you will get lost in the hustle.

after these stories mine seems pretty trivial, but at the time it was so important to me.

My mother was one of those 60's mothers that was pretty much a screw up, so my grandma took care of my brother and me. She worked at a hospital, then helped us with homework, did all the cooking and still had time to make things fun. Her one thing she did for herself was her plants, gardening.. inside and out. The house was always in bloom, and I hated vegetables. every evening I would put mine under the dirt in her rubber tree plant while she was clearing the table. She could never understand why they kept dying on her. It always made me feel bad. To make up for the guilt, I saved every dime I made babysitting and would always buy her a new plant of somekind for her b-day, mother's day, whenever I had enough money.

Finally at the age of 25 with kids of my own.. I couldn't stand it anymore.. we had flown back home to visit, and I told her. At first she was looked surprised.. then she started laughing. I thought I had committed an unforgivable sin... she thought she couldn't grow rubber trees. :) I bought her one before we went home 2 weeks later.

You were only 8 years old!

Take comfort in the fact that something as 'trivial' as that childhood mistake has plagued you as much as it has. It shows that despite the misstep taken as a child you learned good values and morals.

Everyone makes mistakes. Live and learn from them.

Personally, I think everyone has done something similar to that. And its those little things that can take bites out of you especially when you're feeling down. But once you confess and deal with it...what a relief. Its a great lesson, isn't it? Smile,

you are a great person who is not only very sensible but responsible as well. you do have the courage to confess . Accepting your faults and not repeating your mistakes ,make you a responsible person . you did realise your mistake before it matured as a "Habit"!!!!!!!!!

You must not be a parent... we all know what are kids have done before they've even done it. It's ok... get over it.
