I'm a dentist.

If you are going to be sedated intravenously, then the answer is no.

It's not the IV that's the problem, it's the level of sedation that is associated with IV sedation. The medications used make you sleepy. They also make you more prone to vomiting. They also depress your gag reflex, and as such make you more prone to aspirating your vomit into your lungs. This is a dangerous situation.

Generally, patients should take nothing by mouth for a minimum of six hours prior to the appointment.

Technically, small amounts of clear liquids that contain no solid components (e.g. water, cranberry juice, apple juice, grape juice) are ok for up to two hours prior, but I wouldn't risk it. You're better off not taking anything for six hours.

By the way, milk is not considered a clear liquid, and neither is orange juice.

yes you can, you are going to lose lots of blood, it is recommanded that you take any kinds of fluid as much as possible before the operation

but just drink it with a straw so the teeths and gums wouldn't collect cavity.

(Amature dentist would just tell you not to do drink water because they fear that the teeth might be contaminated; dryness may even cause complcation.)

It depends on what kind of sedation you will receive.

Will you be put under general anesthetic?
Will you receive only a local anesthetic?
Will you be put under light sedation?

More importantly: why weren't you given written instructions prior to your oral surgery?

If you did not get these instructions, you shouldn't be having "mu" wisdom teeth pulled.

Yes you may.And it is very important for you to eat a good meal before your extractions. It is better if you don't eat after your teeth are pulled, because you will have holes in your mouth. If you eat before the blood hardens in there, food will get coughed and it will hurt like hell.It is called dry socket. So eat well before and you can drink before and after.

Try not to get all 4 wistom teeth at one go. Maybe 2 at a time. It would added stress to your gum suddenly. Give your gum time to recover.
