Looking for my first digital SLR camera. I am looking for one that's easy to learn, has a good focus, and one that has fast response times.

People will be my main subject, but I also enjoy taking macro shots. I want one that's good indoors and outdoors.

Thank you. :)

I agree with OMG. The cheapest DSLR that is worth owning is probably the Pentax K110D, and this is coming from a Nikon fan.

This is a decent camera.

Check out this set-up. You can get the body, the "kit" lens for $440 after a rebate from B&H Photo in New York. This INCLUDES a good memory card, too. (Rebate ends 3-27-07) You can find B&H by going to Yahoo! Shopping, as they are one of the retailers that Yahoo! links to.

"Pentax K110D, 6.1 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera Kit with Pentax Zoom Super Wide Angle SMCP-DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL Autofocus Lens and Sandisk 2GB Ultra II Secure Digital (SD) Card"

Yeeeaaaa, thats not going to happen.
Digital SLRS are still $800 New.
Some used, like the Digital Rebel are about $6-700.

For under $500, including a kit lens and a memory card, your options are very limited:
* Pentax K110D
* Samsung GX-1L
* Olympus E500 (a memory card puts you over $500)
Between these three, get the Pentax.
If you want to include used cameras, you could also look for a Canon 350D or a Nikon D50 or D70.

I would definitely go another $100 and get the Canon EOS Rebel digital. You won't be sorry.
