"When I was a child, my speech, feelings, and thinking were all
those of a child; now that I am a man, I have no more use for childish
ways. What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror; then we
shall see face-to-face. What I know now is only partial; then
it will be complete--as complete as God's knowledge of me.
Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and
the greatest of these is Love."

Moi aussi! Please read the modern translation below! That might help a little!

Paul uses the example of growing up to explain what is happening to the Christian congregation. As children differ from adults in ways of expressing themselves, in thinking, etc. ; so will the infant congregation differ from the grown one.

If you read verses 8-11 below, the gifts of the spirit, talking in tongues, special knowledge, healing by touch all these gifts belonged to the infant Christian congregation to prove that it was God's new approved spiritual Israel.

Once the Apostles and earlier disciples died, these gifts vanished; however, by then the congregation had received 100% of all the holy writings and now did not see 'hazily' any longer. Likewise, they stopped thinking like babes as for example they did when with Christ and bickering about who was the greatest among them.

Bonne etude.
Feel free to ask me scriptural questions.

Sorry, I don't speak French, but Corinthians 13 is the Love chapter.

1 Corinthians 13 is the "Love" chapter. It defines what Godly love is. It points out that love is the most important "duty" of a Christian, surpassing the speaking of tongues, giving, faith, hope, etc.

Godly love is an action, not merely emotion or lust. This chapter more closely defines the character of a Christian than any other.

This chapter tells you what love is and what it isn't.

1Corinthians 13 is about speaking in tongues, which is not a language taught. In fact only the Pentecostals use this "speaking in tongues." As far as French goes, I use to speak some when I was younger, as we had to learn it in school, but I am not fluent.
