he went away on a *voluntary* business conference, taking time off from work that he could have spent with me. every night he walks me from the parking lot to my residence building because of the high crime area. he promised to call at 930 and walk me back "on the phone" so i wouldnt be a target. but he didnt. not once this week. i pointed it out and he got mad at me. shouldnt i be mad at HIM?

He should not have got mad at you....if anything you should have got mad at him....he should have sad sorry and explained the reason for not calling and walking you back.

well from the sounds of it you have every right to be mad. He said he would walk with you to make sure you were safe and he didn't.
You did not ask him to he voluntintared to do so. He should not have if he had no intentions on being there or anything else.

No, but ask him why he has all of a sudden decided that there is no longer a risk to you getting hurt in this "unsafe" environment. Has something changed? Do you now know Karate?

Obviously there was a miscommunication. He shouldn't of gotten mad...after all he was the one who offered it. He just owes you an explainition.

Gosh if he is like this now.....what would your future be?

no although it was rude to offer and not follow thru he is not responsible for where you chose to live or your safety. if he was a true friend he would have done it. but you shouldn't be mad at him. you just chose the wrong safety net. sorry.
