It has been 5 days since I recovered from my fever. My phlegm has been clearing up pretty well. I've been drinking about 10-12 cups of water a day (read it from some website saying that doing so will thin ur phlegm faster, leading to a faster recovery), taking medication, staying away from food that builds phlegm and getting lots of rest.

However, I am still unable to reach vocal notes that I could usually do with ease when I wasn't sick. To make things worse, I have a gig coming up this Sunday, and my vocal range is quite limited to what I am expected to do. Any suggestions on how I can rid this phlegm thats affecting my vocal chords? Cause everytime I try to hit a high note, it feels like there's something blocking my vocal chords and I end up hitting a 'blank' note instead.

Water is good. That is a good start. I would also adding a tiny pinch of unrefined sea salt to each glass. Also gargle with sea salt. Right before your gig on Sunday, also slug down two or three tablespoons of local honey.

Avoid phlegm creating dairy products until the phlegm is gone. Cheese and milk put hundreds of thousands of mucous cells into your body. Just say no to milk and pizza.

I would also add a little cayenne and cinnamon spice to a combination of 1/2 cup of apple juice and 1/2 cup of grape juice. The btu's of cayenne will raise your internal temperature and help your body drive phlegm from your body. Try adding a cap full of apple cider vinegar. There are many ways to help.

gargle with a mixture of coke and an alcohol beverage like scotch. gargle, gargle gargle. the scotch will be good to keep sipping and gargoling. it realazes too. so try to drink about a pint up to a quart per day. don't buy the cheap stuff. chivas or johnny walker black is best for curing this condition. dr. jj watson of new salem. 3/9/07
