If you had to choose between your country and your religion, would you betray your country? I have read about several incidents where Muslim Americans gave information to El Qaeda and to other enemies of America. Apparently, any fighting against a Muslim nation for any reason is against your religion. In the US, you have the opportunity to refuse to fight in a war if it goes against your faith. You are not forced to serve in the military. So why betray a nation of people who would die to protect your freedom to practice your faith?

There is a saying in Arabic that says

Brothers before cousins and cousins before friends. So you will always choose your own no matter what over your friends. Betrayal is very common in the middle east for this reason.

"If you had to choose between your country and your religion, would you betray your country?"

- ask yourself that question. which do you think is more important? And it also depends on the reason why your choosing between the two.

"I have read about several incidents where Muslim Americans gave information to El Qaeda and to other enemies of America."
-Where did you read this? And are you sure its true, because I'm sure I don't need to remind you that basic english class (also media studies classes) teaches you that media fabricates. You never know what is right, and what is wrong.
Hmm also, muslim americans - what..?Dont other people also offer information to terrorist groups, how do you pick out one group? Thats stereotyping, and your ignorant for doing that.
Also ever consider that maybe they may have been in a situation in which it was their life over some secrets ?

"In the US, you have the opportunity to refuse to fight in a war if it goes against your faith. "
- No you actually don't, if you refuse to fight you get jailed. There was a soldier who refused to fight in the war against Afghanistan (my hero =), and he got jailed.

"So why betray a nation of people who would die to protect your freedom to practice your faith?"
- oh yes, I agree on that, however you must look around. People like you pinpoint odd little facts, and make life miserable. How would you like it if your religion was always all over the media, and criminalized? How would you like it if everytime you passed down a street, or the hallways of your school you were called a "terrorist" -- when your only crime was not doing your homework because you were too tired from work? How would you like it if you knew around the world your religion was hated, and people were being killed everyday for being muslim, just because of something a group decided to do in a country you have never been to, nor ever plan on going to?

--> note to hihello: where do you live? Honestly, thats a sad situation, and I apologize that you had to go through that, however I dont think all people are like that, I for one am not. Especially since 75% of my group of friends consists of people whom are not muslim, and Id give my life for each one of them.

Ya i get what ur trying to say. In my daily life many of my close muslim friends have cheated me. THats what i learnt from experiance. What i noticed was that they might value my friendship but if they have to choose between helping their muslim friends, they would do that whther ur doing the right thing or not. I hate stereotyping them. But majority of muslims especially the guys care more for the other muslims. Its an ego thing. They say that its the values and faith etc..... in a lot of matters, but no..... Even other religions have values but the difference ive seen is that i stand with my friends when they do the right thing whether they r muslim or christian, but muslims always stick to muslims.
But i have to mention, i do know some really nice muslims. and they r nice because they are religious but dont have an ego problem. But ive noticed that even such people find it difficult to accept u as compared to another muslim friend whoever is of a better character. this could also be because muslim families as i have noticed dont like their children getting westernised or un islamish. so they can easily take their muslim friends home but its not as comfortable with the others. I think they r taught wrongly. i accept their religion as it has great values but generally many muslims are hypocrites.

umm, your don't have facts, so i m not really listening to what you are saying, but there are many soldiers who joined b4 the war, and they feel the war against Iraq is wrong, but they still have to go because, they will be put in jail if they refuse to go!! so they do not have the freedom to refuse if its against their faith!!!
