Gandhi like anyone of us, was a mortal and of course as ignorant. He rose to heights in this materialistic world, is another thing. Like wise we have Bill Gates, Nelson Mandela and others shining in their respective fields. What he did to the mankind was his style of doing things.

In practicing a religion we need a spiritual guide, who does not do materialistic services, but propagates enlightenment.
That is a true saint.

Gandhiji was a great human being, but not a saint in the real sense of the word.

It is more than any religion, it is a way of life, it is very effective. It has got independence to India from the powerful british, from whom it would have been very difficult or impossible to wrench out from them. Religion these days has degenrated to petty threats, war and violence and killing and death and destruction.
Gandhiji's principle are an answer to todays problems facing the world, with a possibility of a third world war. These principles will ensure peace and happiness for the present and future generations, if followed.

Agree with the answer above. These principles are principles. A complete religion, as you call it, is much more. It has to answer most of the big questions of life, why we're here, what happens after death, and so on.

Every religion preaches the same . This is nothing new. But in our country , this is used as an instrument , by the divisive forces , to make the population of this great country into creatures of submission and subversion .
Otherwise , why there is so much of hatred, violence , falsity and hypocrisy in this country ?
Why the Valentines day is desecrated ?
Why do we have so much of violence against women ?
Why the judiciary is so slow , when everybody knows justice delayed is justice denied ?
Why our police forces are the greatest perpetrators of violence?
The direct outcome of these vices in our society is increase in terrorism(individual means of revolt against this corrupt society) and mass movements like Naxal movements.
So let us be practical , so as to not to preach what we cannot practise . Let us first cleanse ourselves and the society , then every thing else will follow.
Religion is nothing but practical thinking and implementation of great ideas.

He was a great pacifist that saw evil in the world and tried to combat it with the only weapon he had, the goodness inside of him.

His principles of love, non-violence, and truth are universal. What makes a movement a religion is when you have a god to pray to and worship.

He was only a good man with some very good advice. He wouldn't like to have been referred to as a 'god', had he survived.

Of course YES. Gandhi ji’s philosophies compile for a complete religion in itself. If you follow Gandhism , I believe you are only left with happiness and peace in life. Your soul becomes guilt free.. your heart becomes happy and your mind is set free.
