Um...ya i have the same problem as you...getting the old family car that looks like ****. Only mines a honda and more theft prone. So my answer to that question that i asked myself a while ago was to pimp it under the hood. Keep it invisible at least for my honda. If you really want to pimp it out i'd say ebay is the cheapest all around. But if you get a body kit buy an expensive one as it will be much nicer. Remeber if you get subs...make sure to have 4 screws in your license plate because listening to the license plate rattle make the car sound like crap. So im leaving my car the way it is and keepin it low key and saving that money for a newer car hopefully in the near future. The real question is do you want to do it to satisfy you or to impress your friends? 91 Toyota..Hope That HElps

Wow, I don't know what to tell you. Whatever you do to the car it'll still look ugly. Its not the upgrades, its the car itself. Its too ugly to be saved lol. Anyways, its a great starter car and I'd recommend you gain some experience in it. After a while when you're able to get a better car, you can upgrade it the way you want.
P.S. To make you feel better, my first car was a 2000 Toyota Sienna LE. After a while people started calling me a soccer mom. I don't know if you can beat that.

Believe it or not, in Japan...that is what the early modern tuners used for drifting in the mountains and what not....In fact, the star car of the classic manga book and DVD series "Intial D" was a Toyota Corolla...rims and tires, supercharger or turbo, paint job, widebody kit, and rear spoiler...headers, intake, intercooler, and limited slip differential....pick up some tuner magazines, get some ideas ..take your time and buy each part slowly....you'll have a killer ride in two to three years.

It looks good for a corolla. I skip the crappy body kit stuff. I'd add sway bars, springs, performance wheels and tires (not 20 inch). At least it would be fun to drive. You will have many more cars in your life. Don't try to make this one something it doesn't want to be. It could end up being unpimped on a vdub commercial.

I have an 86 corolla, I gave it a good cut and polish to make the paintwork shine, a good ol' polish with some elbow grease can bring it up real nice.
If you want the interior to look good, just get some covers in a plain colour.

its impossible. Sell it and buy an old Nissan or Honda with the money, at least those can be slightly pimped
