Definitely, the widely spoken is English. Obviously, as in Europe we assumed English as an international language it is used extensively.
Then I cannot be precise, but believe that German and French are spoken as native languages mostly.

Have a nice day!

German is widest spoken by natives
English is joint second with Italian
French is third

In terms of native and second/third language:
English
German
French

I did my bachelor thesis on languages and business in Ireland and this was a large part of it. People speak English but some countries resent having to do business in it, especially if they are the customer.

People in Italy and France really don't like having to speak English in areas such as toursim, especially when America and the UK make no effort to accomodate French or Italian speakers in their countries.

Probably English, but as a second language...most Europeans speak two or more languages; their native tongue, ie Spanish, French, German, etc., plus English

The most natively spoken languages are propably german (germany, austria, parts of switzerland, lichtenstein-also populations in the east of france and the west of chezh republik speak natively german along with the national language) and russian (since it has a very big population anyway). I d say that french comes third (france, parts of belgium, parts of switzwerland, monaco, luxemburg). But thats just a quick thought, i havent checked it.
