What is the complete name of your practice, what deities does it involve, and how long have you been practicing? Just curious. Anyone can answer. (Atheism counts for this just so you know!) Thanks in advance.

I believe it was Christian Huygens who said "The world is my country, science my religion." I related strongly to that viewpoint when I first heard it, as it's pretty much mine, too.

The longer answer is that I was raised Catholic, but do not subscribe to its teachings. While open-minded, and respectful of others' feelings and beliefs, I am stubbornly and proudly agnostic, as I feel that is the most reasonable position to take on unprovable matters. For the same reason, I am not an atheist, though I can respect their viewpoints even easier than those of religious people.

For the rest of your question: there is no deity involved, of course, but I have said that the universe is my "higher power." I am in awe of it. I have been practicing this "religion" fairly intensely for less than a decade, but the fascination has been there for many years.

My "religion" involves a sincere thirst for the truth unlike any other that I have witnessed, despite their followers' words to the contrary.

And I have given some thumbs-up to those I disagree with... and thumbs-down to some I agree with. After all, it shouldn't be a popularity vote about religion; it's based on who answered Kalista's questions!

DEISM

There is just 1 deity - usually called a Supreme Being - who created the universe and then left the universe to evolve on its own.

I have followed this for about 10 years

I am an Asatruar. Asatru is a form of Germanic Heathenry (the original Germanic tribes include the Frisians, Scandinavians, English, Germans of course, etc...) and we worship many gods and goddesses. The ones you are most familiar with would be Odinn and Thor. We consider them to be just as close to us as our family members would be to us, so we do not bow down or scrape to them any more than they do to us.

We're very 'into' being responsible for our own actions. We also tend to be highly intelligent and logical. We get along well with atheists and people of most other religions for the most part. We don't care who you worship. We expect you to give us the same respect. It's not difficult, that's for sure.

~Morg~
ETA: I was raised Asatru and though I study other religions, I am STILL Asatru. I will most likely die Asatru. Why would I betray my Gods, Goddesses and kin when they have served me so well throughout my life?

Today it is simply referred to as Nature. God is everything and in everyone. The basic concept wasn't profitable or a controlling fear so the Christians tried wiping us out in the 8th century after stealing what they wanted and making up lies that still persist today. My religion fits well with science unlike the "Big Three". Basic concepts involving treating others as they treat you, and keeping life in balance. Justice, forgiveness, and mercy are human concepts that cause conflict and deviation from the balance. Look to nature for your cues.

De Facto (Strong) Atheism
& I'm an atheist.

No God.
No gods.
No prayer.
No church.
No sin.
No resurrection.
No afterlife.
No reincarnation.
No ritual.
No spell.
No spirits.
No superstition.
No ghosts.
No psychic power.

Fulfillment.
Satisfaction.
Morality.
Tolerance.
Perspective.
Open-mindedness.
Free-thinking.

I believe there is no God as much as theists believe that there is one. I am, however, open to any evidence you may have.

I've been an atheist since I was twelve (about two and a half years ago), but I'm an out-of-the-closet atheist since last November, and my life has been great ever since. I left behind my Lutheran Christianity.

I love it.

I am a Christian of non denomination. I believe in one God in three personas = the Trinity, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The God of Israel, the God of Abraham, Jacob, Isaac and Moses. I believe that the only way to have salvation is through the gift of mercy and grace in salvation through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. I was born again nearly 5 years ago.

I'm mormon. i worship God and Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit. I have been a member of the church for a little over 2 years. I was raised methodist/catholic/baptist, dabbled a little in wicca for a while, and now I've settled happily into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints... Centerpieces, jello-molds, and testimony meetings... hehe... i love it... i believe it to be the true gospel, but, i also believe everyone has the right to their own beliefs.. and that whats right for me may not be right for everyone else....

I am a Muslim, I follow Islam

I believe in God alone, All his prophets, Angels, his books, The Day of Judgment, and divine pre-decree.

I was born in America to Muslim parents. I always believed in God, but I started really learning and practicing my faith thoroughly 3 years ago after I visited where my parents are from (Pakistan). My grandmother bought me an English Qu'ran, I read it, and there times I was crying out of remembrance of God's favor on us. Now i try to make my 5 daily prayers, today I only made 4 :*( I missed the Dawn Prayer. But I made the intention to pray it before I slept, so may God will reward me for it.

[031:020] See you not (O men) that God has subjected for you whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, and has completed and perfected His Graces upon you, (both) apparent (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism, and the lawful pleasures of this world, including health, good looks) and hidden [i.e. one's faith in God (of Islâmic Monotheism), knowledge, wisdom, guidance for doing righteous deeds, and also the pleasures and delights of the Hereafter in Paradise]? Yet of mankind is he who disputes about God without knowledge or guidance or a Book giving light!

Peace Be With You
