I read an article on ESPN.com that Floyd Mayweather jr. saw Sugar Ray Leonard at a boxing function and he told Ray that if he was still fighting today, that he wouldn't even be in the top ten! Is Mayweather ON CRACK? Who in the hell does he think he is to insult a great champion like Sugar Ray Leonard? This overrated chump couldn't carry Leonard's spit bucket and he has the nerve to insult him like that? A man who has fought and beat Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Benitez, and so on. This is why i can't stand Mayweather. He's an arrogant jerk who doesn't even have sense enough to respect the great champions that came before him. Leonard should have dropped that jerk right there on the spot. I hope Oscar de la Hoya does everyone in the world a big favor on May 5th and beats this chump's azz and shut his big mouth for good!

I never heard such a thing. It would be HUGE Boxing news. You are either misunderstanding something or are making that up for a reaction.

While I have to agree that Mayweather Jr. is a great fighter, he is also a great moron. His own father wouldn't even train him until he was refused a rediculous amount of money to train De La Hoya to fight his son. The whole family is screwed in the head. Mayweather Jr. has a big mouth and De La Hoya will provide an excellent beating on May 5th.

For any of today's fighters to disrespect the great fighters of the past is pure nonsense. The boxing rules in place today make for weak fighters that could not possibly survive the kinds of fights that Leonard, Ali, Herns, Hagler, Marciano had to fight. There was no "oh, you have a cut over your eye so we are going to stop the fight" back then. I'm not sure when the 3 knockdown rule came into play but I'm pretty sure it was in the late 80s. None of this "I stopped the fight because so-and-so took 10 straight punches and didn't return a single punch".

Oh, and there was no Don King back then either to completely ruin the sport and make it into a total circus act.

I agree with you. That is very disrespectful for Floyd to say that about a Hall of Fame fighter like Ray. Leonard was a great fighter and would've been successful in any era. He fought at a time when the 147lb division was at it's best and that's why he is considered one of the greats because of the competition he has beaten. Floyd has beaten some decent fighters, but none no where near the caliber of opponents that Ray has beaten. Hey, it's a free country and people can say what they want, but when you make idiotic statements like he did towards Leonard, you only show the world how silly you are. And who in the 147lb top ten today would beat Leonard in his prime? Mayweather? No! Mosley? No! Paul Williams? No! Miguel Cotto? No! Antonio Margarito? No! Leonard in his prime would dust all these guys. I think for Floyd to say that is ridiculous and disrespectful, but it's just Floyd being Floyd. He's been disrespecting Oscar too and he just may be in for a rude awakening come May 5th.

I'm not sure how true this is but if it is i've lost alot of respect for Mayweather. SRL in his prime would've dominated Mayweather.

And for the record, yes Mayweather Sr. did fight SRL and got whooped. May 5th while just be a highly viewed, expensive sparring session for Floyd.

mayweather is doing the same that ali did.
talk smack and people will pay to see u lose
then make sure u get a piece of the gate

holmes said the same thing about rocco.

for the record ray never fought mayweather sr

p.s. a page from the gorgeous george (famous flamboyant wrestler) - make them pay too hate u.
in the movies the bad bad guys have the juiciest parts.

Floyd is gonna give Oscar a high priced boxing lesson...he is not a slugging heavy bag with a mouth like Mayorga was...Oscar got a gift fighting that guy...Im no big Floyd fan but the last time Oscar got in with a guy like this(natural at a lower weight with blazing handspeed) he got beat...twice...

At this point Mayweather can say what he likes to anyone. He's unbeaten and has only had one competitive opponent (Castillo the first time), but always remember that 'pride goeth before the fall.'
