The cheap stuff will still be made somewhere if its not China then India, Bangladesh, Phillipines, the Dominican Republic etc etc. You get it.

Maybe things will be a wee bit more expensive but the labour cost in those countries are very competitive to China. In fact a lot of industries in China such as the clothing industry are only surviving because of government subsidies (which is around 12%). So basically, the manufacturers can make the clothes for sale at cost or 0 profit and depend on the subsidies to make a profit.

Don't worry. Vietnam, North Korea or even African countries etc. will take over the job.

In fact, about 60 percent of China's exports are controlled by foreign-financed companies, according to the latest Chinese customs data. In categories like computer parts and consumer electronics, foreign companies command an even greater share of control over the exports, analysts say.

Foreign expertise has been critical as manufacturing supply chains become increasingly complex, involving multiple countries that separately produce individual components that are then shipped to China for final assembly. Since such a system can render global trade statistics misleading; some experts say that a more apt label would be "Assembled in China."

These products are actually "Assembled in China." but not Made in China". These products are Assembled in China because China's supply of cheap labor.

If China somehow vanished from the Face of the Earth, the USA would once again Depend on Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, The Philippines,Mexico, and many others for Low Cost Labor, as was the case in the ' 70's & ' 80's.

Althought the United States is actually greatly affected by china. the US wouldnt be that different. as far as manufacturing and industry, knowing how america is, we would probably be somewhere else where cheap labor is available.( my guess would probably be africa). other Chinese contributions to the US would either come from another group or be non-existent. the railroads built by chinese immigrants back then would probably have been built by African-american laborers at that time period. im pretty sure inventions, such as fireworks and gunpowder, would have eventually been founded by another nation.other cultural contributions from china wouldnt exist(things such as chinese food and martial art movies that americans love) . all in all yes, china does impact america in many ways today, but if there was no china i think america would only be slightly different.

Your question might soon be answered in reality - China has just stopped giving tax breaks (hundreds of billions of dollars) to foriegn companies. One thing's for sure - USA won't be the USA of today if there isn't China (or cheap foriegn labour in general)

Items here would be way more expensive, but we would have also found other countries to use as cheap labor. India would be the next emerging world power instead of China.
Your mouse would say made in India instead.

We would also not have any Chinese food!!!

what would china do without the US? we seriously depend a lot on each other. most of our manufactured goods come from china...and well, a good amount of china's jobs are in the manufacturing industry.

without china we would have much more industry. it shows that our government has no shame because it allows the import of items made by Chinese slaves that are not even allowed bathroom breaks. our government claims that we have outlawed slavery but that is a lie.... they just make sure that the items we get From the slaves are made by Chinese slaves instead of American. our government very much supports the slave business but just in other countries.
