We are flying NWA / KLM from Memphis to Amsterdam and then Amsterdam to Bucharest. I was just wondering what your experences with this airline are.

I fly both NWA and KLM often. For your flight to from Memphis to Amsterdam you will enjoy the new A330's with on-demand audio/visual at every seat, if you can't sleep this really makes the trip go much faster.

Amsterdam is by far the best airport to connect in Europe, it is very user friendly with alot of excellent duty free shops. On a trip back the the USA I can easily come home with two shopping bags of chocolate and Dutch waffles.

KLM intra-Europe flights remind me of domestic USA service 20 years ago. The service is above average and there is often a decent meal even in coach.

Both KLM and NWA are among the best airlines out there. I've had nothing but great experiences with both airlines. They're friendly and efficient and I've never had any problems whatsoever. And Amsterdam is one of the best major airports to make a connection through as well - way better than London or Paris. It's still big but very efficient and nice.

Northwest and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines have had a very close partnership since the early 90s. I am a frequent flyer with them, and find that their fares are usually cheapest for routes I need (transatlantic and intra-Europe). The main connection point is Amsterdam airport (AMS) which I find very good for making transfers, clean, modern, lots of shopping and diversions--even an art gallery--while I'm waiting for my next flight. I like NW's Airbus 330 for the transatlantic flights. The seatback entertainment offers the most choice of any I've ever seen in economy class--loads of movies and shorter programs. I do think KLM's service overall is a tad better; their flight attendants seem to have better training in customer care, but NW is alright. You can see which seats are best at http://www.seatguru.com click "Northwest" or "KLM" on the left column. Happy travels.

Ive flown on 4 occasions with KLM from Australia to Amsterdam & then on to other European cities.

The flights that follow on from Amsterdam to other European destinations were so much fun & excellent, staff were lovely & very helpful. Schipol airport is amazing & they have an underground hotel!!

I wouldn't say they are the best airline, they were ok considering the tickets were very reasonable & the hostesses generally were very helpful.

I was travelling with children, services were basic no frills.

When you select your seating try not to choose the back of the plane because its very cramped. Instead request a bulkhead seat, that way you get extra legroom & are usually located closer to the bathrooms.

Also its worth while to join the Flying Dutchman airmiles program (might be called something else if you are US based).
