It wouldn't be a surprise if I brought her to a jewelly shop but then again, it would be a disaster if i surprise her the ring which is too tight or too loose to wear!

buy her a cheap one then give it to her that would make you see what's the size of her finger. if she asks why just say you just saw that ring and feel it would fit to her then you can buy her the real promise ring and make a surprise date on how you are going to give it to her.

while at the jewelry shop ask the jeweler to put an extended part on the ring. explain to he/she that you don't want the ring to be too big for your gal. jewelers usually know what those ring adapters are. after you give her the ring, you both could go to the jeweler to get the ring sized correctly. you both could go to a Macy's shop and get her finger sized.
when the two of you order a pizza for delivery. when the pizza is delivered, you hold onto the box with the box with the ring under the box w/ the pizza. ask her to take the pizza and make sure that she is paying attention. before either of you open the pizza. as she takes the pizza box, gently grip the pizza box as not to let go. when she asks why won't you let go, set the smaller box atop the pizza box. tell her that this box is for you. then eat and enjoy your pizza.

Talk to one of her girlfriends that you trust to keep a secret. Get the friend to casually glance at one of your gf's regular rings and try it on and then have the friend say "oh this is so cute what size are you my fingers are so...blah blah blah" or have the friend pocket a cheap ring from the gf that can easily be put back later without your gf noticing. You can take the ring to a jewler who will be able to tell you what size it is.

her best friend is the source of all information that relates to this ask her for ring size and what type of stones she likes and what cuts for the stone and i promise you will get lots of info. Thats how my husband got my info. If you really want to suprise her take her to get her nails done first then ask her if she wants something shiny to go on her pretty hands it will amuse and entertain her while still being sweet

Ok I had this same problem, now most girls wear some cheesy rings or something everyday, or look through her jewlery box and find something and joke with her about putting it on and see if it fits then pocket that ring and take it to the jewlery store and presto you have her size. good luck.

my boyfriend surpirise me at a resturant..my ring fit me though... gurls usually wear a size 6 or 7 but if it doesnt fit its ok
