Science doesn't care one bit about religion.

Religion sometimes seeks to explain the natural world as well as promise the supernatural; it is here that it conflicts with science. Some religions are too smart or too new to make that mistakes; many are not.

That's all.

Islam talks about Science A LOT. The Quran has plenty of scientific theories. Some proven right and some proven wrong. Look it up it'll be a great essay and probably really different from everyone elses in your class.

I can't give you a "touching" intro. It's too touchy a subject, pardon the pun. I will suggest, though, that I would not do the "is there a conflict?" as my title. Of course there is a conflict!!!! If there weren't, nobody would be interested. Make it contraversial and interesting.

"Opposite ends of the spiritual spectrum; science and religion."

"Forever fated for controversy? Science vs. religion. . ."

Get their attention.

Science is the tool used to find truth. Religion is the ancient assumption of truth. Throughout the centuries science and religion have clashed. From Copernicus to Darwin science has revealed the secrets of our universe and simultaneously cast doubt on the claims of holy texts. Failure to adapt has been religions greatest weakness while the necessity of adaptation has been sciences greatest strength. Though the first scientists set out to reveal the workings of god, science has revealed that our assumptions of god may not be as true as we expected. Those who value their scriptures will fight the progress of science in favor of their closely held beliefs, while those in search of truth will continue to find it.

This may give you ideas... but don't just copy it. That my friend is plagarism, and i will rat you out.

Boeing 777 flies , so does Peter Pan. No conflict except if you try to explain the first using the second.
Science and fairy tales co-exist but using one to explain the other is futile.

"And as the young boy approached the preacher, he trembled in fear. Cowed by the tall man's presence, it was all he could to make a step forward. The old man, standing in his vestments, reached a hand out to the small boy. 'Come here, my son. Let me comfort you.' The boy swallowed, picked up his right foot, set it down in front of his left. 'You're in the Lord's house, now, my son.' Another swallow, another step. 'Can you feel the Spirit, son?' Yet another swallow, another step. 'Let the Lord touch you, boy. Allow the Son to move within you.' The boy found himself at the foot of the preacher, gripping his tunic. 'Praise Jesus, my son,' said the preacher, placing a hand on each of the boy's shoulders. The preacher was looking down at the boy now, staring directly into his eyes, gripping his shoulders tightly. A thin, distant smile cracked on his face, he licked his lips, and, in a deep and quiet voice, said 'Praise Jesus.' The boy began to wonder if the preacher was talking to him, or himself."

You can probably take the rest from there.

If it's your essay, you should really be the author of 100% of the work. Nobody can tell you what your own thoughts are or should be. Sorry.

"Every entity is in a state of flux; moving, reacting, adjusting, and changing. The amount of change is, of course, dependent on its ambient environment, outside stimuli, and its basic (foundational) characteristics."

The Scientists call this "evolution".
The Creationists call it (by) "intelligent design".
