hmm (visa question)?

Question

I did my bachelor's in the US, but came back to Singapore after that. Didn't use the 1 year I had to get a job as I had to settle some things back home.

Do I need to be in the employ of a US firm before applying for a work visa, or does it work the other way round?

Simple answer to your question -- yes, you need to apply to a US firm, that is prepared to apply for a work permit for you.

For a work permit, the firm must apply on your behalf, and they must proove that you are not taking up an Americans job. I.E you fall under a category in immigration, of skills that are needed.

That is all the embassy wants to see, besides your usual 'i can support myself without public funds' story.

You normally forfeit your year to look for a job after your degree if you leave the country (perminantly, or atleast for a long time).

A company from US has got to hire you first aint no jobs here might as well stay there we shipping all the jobs to your country anyways
