How do you keep an unopened box of See's (or any chocolate, for that matter!) in your house for over two months without eating them?! I envy you. I bought a box of Tagalongs (Girl Scout cookies) last week and finished them off in two days...
To answer your question, as long as they're still sealed in plastic, they should be fine. Sometimes old chocolate (not YEARS old, but a few months) will get a white coating on it. I saw it on Good Eats once--it's the cocoa butter coming out of the chocolate. Looks weird, but perfectly safe to eat. So, while your chocolate "may" have this coating (only way to find out is to give the gift and hope they don't know that you're giving them old candy, lol), it is safe to eat. If you're truly concerned, call them and ask: 1-800-347-7337. (Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 8:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT)

The marked date for shelf existence with chocolate, beer and canned food etc is only how lengthy the shops are meant to promote it. typically manufacturers purchase again something that would not promote before the "expiration date". That stated, chocolate that has been kept in a cool, dry ecosystem is mostly safe to eat for 2-3 years see you later as insects have not gotten into it. It does turn paler and dry out on the exterior because it a lengthy time period besides the undeniable fact that, and as that is to be a present i could take it again to the save and ask them to interchange it with a "modern-day" one. My rationalization for that is that chocolate does lose flavor high quality because it a lengthy time period and being likely over a year previous already it gained't characterize itself just about to boot as a brisker pattern in look, flavor or experience.

Chocolates have self life upto six months. But depending on their mixtures this might change. Here I usually get chocolates which has a self life for about eight monhts. I think ur chocolate is not spoiled since it is untouched.

Chocolate has so many perservatives in it that it would take a couple of years to go bad.... within 6 months is fine.

i think they are just fine. remember, especially with fancy chocolates, to keep them in a dry place, and never refrigerate them because this causes the cocobutter to harden and when it goes back to room temperature it can become gritty and it also will turn a funky whitish mucky color and will definately lose its shine!
