Whenever I say I'd like to have a beatiful girlfriend people asume that if she's beautiful she'll be shallow, boring and not intelligent. Arent some average looking or ugly girls shallow and not intelligent as well?

The most well publicized examples of beautiful women are unfortunately quite shallow and vapid, usually. Take Paris Hilton as a prime example. Many people just extend what they see on tv to the whole population.
The other large part of it is jealousy. People feel bad about themselves when they compare themselves to the beautiful, and they make themselves feel better by finding faults in them.
Yes, many average and ugly girls are shallow and stupid, a signifigant portion of any group is. More's the pity.

Perhaps their experience is that being the case. I know just some not so beautiful people that are ugly inside and out. I think that it depends on the state of mind of the individual.
If someone has spent their life time being told they are beautiful and that is all they have concentrated on then they will appear to be shallow, bad or not intelligent.
I think that if the not so beautiful as well as the beautiful spent time working on the character (that ageless part of part of the human that takes wrinkles and outward flaws like a champ because it has no effect), there would be more people who got along on this earth!
Just an opinion from a plane Jane who has spent time on the character!
If you want a beautiful person inside out, go for it because some beautiful people are left in the cold because someone assumes they have someone and they do not.

To be really stunning, they must spend narcissistic time in front of the mirror, in fashion magazines, working out, obsessively concerned about her looks and it takes up a large portion of her day. She can never be caught in public with out looking just so.
Is that healthy? Does that make them shallow? Lack of common sense?
Or does that mean she is very focused, knows what she wants, aware of her public presence?
It ain't easy being beautiful. Cristy Brinkley said she felt lost because she couldn't deal with adding her husband into her busy schedule. Part of the reason she dumped the hi-life, children.
But, even at her age, 60,, she could still knock my socks off.

It's just a stereotype like any other. A lot of it comes from television and movies. People also tend to think that "Beautiful People" have it easier and therefore do not bother to develop their other qualities.

true. But, we live in a very stereotypical world. You can try proving to them that its not true at all and try convincing them that stereotyping is so wrong its not even funny.

because they, themselves, are shallow, bad, and unintelligent. they are probably the same ones that think that ugly people are sweet and intelligent. yeah........riiiiiiiiiiight.

Pllleeezzz, you are beginning to generalize people are all like that and that is not right. It depends on the individual and many situations.
