my eyes were stinging pretty badly. anyhow i had a frying pan on the stove which was on for quite sometime with nothing on it and without me knowing. Could the frying pan created some smoke and in effect causedmy eyes to be irratated? This is the only thing i can pin it on, as it has never happened to me before.

if it has teflon most likely that was burning

Could have been something left over that was in the pan, maybe old onion juice,

Sometimes when metal get really hot it can make gases that could cause your eyes to became very irritated. Also, the air in our homes as more particles in it then the air outside.
