I feel you-my daughter is almost three, and will NOT wear socks or shoes in the house. If we are someplace long enough, even if it's a public place, she will start taking off her socks and shoes. We tried the whole cute slipper thing, even let her pick them out, but she thinks they are "friends" to play with, and doesn't like them on her feet. We live in Illinois, and the tile floor does get cold, but I have pretty much given up this battle. I suppose you might try double knotting laced shoes to keep them on, but she may get very upset at not being able to get them off. Good luck!

Why would you make anyone, especially a 2 yr old wear something on their feet around the house. That's the great thing about being home--being able to go shoeless. Sometimes when it's cold I encourage my toddler to wear her socks or slippers around the house because the tile stays pretty cold, but I'm not gonna force her if she's not uncomfortable.

Is this a battle worth fighting? do you have a good reason to make an issue of this, like you live in Michigan and have freezing cold tile floors? If you feel this is a battle you must choose and can't let go, then try rewarding her for keeping her shoes on, and/or punishing her for taking them off. You could also buy some fun slippers, and let her choose. I would recommend Robeez. They are adorable, warm, hard to get off at least for younger babies, and machine washable too.

lol my husband always gets on me still to wear socks or slippers (he thinks Ill catch cold if I dont) while i'm walking around the house...I hate socks, so I'm always barefoot at home. But, and I know this sounds bad, whenever my parents really wanted me to do something when I was little was they scared ne into it. If you want her wearing socks cuz your afraid she'll catch cold or hurt her feet, just put a little scare into her...like she'll get sick and won't be able to go out to play...or she might get her toes nibbled on...worked for me

Not sure why she needs to...are you talking about indoors?

She probably just likes the feel of nothing on her feet...I do myself! Can't see how it hurts anything when she is indoors....and my guess is if she doesn't enjoy wearing shoes and socks, you won't have much luck keeping them on....just tell her when she goes outside, she has to put them on to protect her feet.

Or try some really cute slippers and she might wear them.

Good luck! In the dead of winter I can't keep anything on my 2 yr old's feet at home. He will usually keep socks & shoes on in public or other peoples' houses though.

Whats wrong with bare feet. As a kid I almost always had bare feet around the house, and in the summer I never wore shoes. It's more comfortable.

sorry but you can't make her do it. Remember she might like the feel of bare feet at home. For a while everyone of my kids hated clothes at home and stayed in underwear. It wasn't worth the fight to me so i just let them be comfy at home, and got the clothes on when we went out. It didnt last for very long... I took them shopping to pick out things they wanted to wear and they did wear them at home.

You have to pick your battles - is it really that big of a deal that she wear something on her feet in the house??

take her to the store and have her pick out some cute fuzzy slippers. other than that...who really cares? its inside and its temperature controlled. if you're worried about her stepping on something, keep the house clean and teach her about putting toys away when she's done with them.
