Nope, you had an accident. Now if the black ice rose up, and smote your car a mighty blow while it was sitting in the driveway, that would be an (unnatural) act of nature, but you would still pay your deductible. However, since you were driving, it is not just an accident, it counts as not retaining control of the vehicle.

Sorry, but you've got to pay the deductible. Act of nature would be if a tree was struck by lightning and fell on your car, or it got blown away by a tornado, or washed away in a flood (even then, you probably would have to pay part of the deductible, or accept the amount of your insurance less the deductible if the vehicle is totalled).

Its unfortunate that you got in an accident, but yes, you do have to pay your deductible. The insurance company looks at it this way: How many other cars drove on that street with the same road conditions and DID NOT get in an accident? Like it or not, you failed to maintain a proper speed and lost control of the car.

Ha! An act of nature! Good one. Yes, you have to pay your deductible. That's a collision loss regardless of whether the ice was a contributing factor and your collision deductible applies.

You pay the deductible, it is not an act of nature. An act of nature would be a hurricane, tornado, tsuenami, something of terrific force. Usually you will not be covered for flood unless you request and pay extra for it, it's very expensive and many go without it.

Regardless of fault.. if you EVER go through your insurance.. you have to pay the deductible you agreed to- what are they gonna do- get their money back from the ice?

Besides.. HELLO your at fault. You were driving too fast for weather conditions.
