No; it is adhered to by people who were brought up with it and who lacked either the time or the intellectual horsepower to determine that it is bogus. For much more on this, see:

Well from an Athiest point of view, religion just holds you back from doing things you weren't meant to do. I mean, who's watching me? I can do whatever I want and not answer to anybody as why I did it. And when I fall down, I don't need God to pick me up. Why? Because I never really took the time to understand him. All I wanted to do was hang out and live like there is no tomorrow. But the funny thing is when I'm in my deathbed, these "Things" that I thought was "Ok" might not be alright with me now. But hey, I don't need God. I got a nice six foot deep black hole, in which I call "Heaven." Now I get to lay there and rot for the rest of my eternal life. Why? Because I refused to Believe in God. (Pretty strong, huh?)

religion is not for the weak nor the strong. it's not there to help someone when he has a tough time. it's something people can hold on to. it's a believe, where people find the true meaning of living. religion helps people to do good, make the right decisions. religion is not something you look for only when you have a tough state, it's before you have that tough situation.

I wouldn't put it that way. I personally think it is something thatwe have created and that has evolved to help us make sense of our existence. Otherwise some would say that we would just be wondering around with no clue what our purpose or focus should be. But I have never bought into religion. It's too rigid and closed-minded and it's not based on reality. I have never read the Bible and don't feel better singing praising songs of the "Lord" when I occasionally go to Christian churches. I don't know the answer to your question but I think that it is kind of like why do we fall in love? Love is not a real thing either but it is something I think that we have created to explain why we have sex...? So just my opinions. I think the way you are stating it has a negative connotation though. It works for some people...but I wouldn't say they are weak..maybe they grew into their beliefs from being raised in a religious family and never knew anything different.

Actually, in this time of religious critics - such as yourself - who demean and ridicule those who's faith is in God, it takes a very strong person to proclaim a religion and then be subjected to the mean, cruel remarks of people - again, such as yourself. Are you so insecure in whatever you do or do not believe in that it makes you feel like more of a man, or more of a human being to hurt the feelings of people who believe differently? What a sad, sad commentary you've written about yourself there, dude.

That was what I use to think before I got to know them. They are not weak. It takes a strong person to say no to sin and temptation. Then once I found out that they were truly strong, I figured that it was not for me, but I was wrong. It is the Holy Spirit which makes them strong. He changed my life and my desires. He has delivered me from ALL of my addictions and has set me free to be me. Now I am stronger and happier than ever.

Now that's not being very fair is it?

Any religious person could rebutt that with "are Atheists so arrogant that they don't think they need God?"

By the way, I'm straddling the fence myself so dont' take offense to my comment, just trying to see everything from all perspectives.

You asked that question for slander, but you are more right than you think. I couldn't make it without the Lord that's setting on the Fathers right side making intercessions for me each day and I couldn't make it with out the Holy Spirit guiding me
through the day and times of trouble. Yes, I weak.on my own, but I'm Strong through Christ.

Don't sweat it man. Religion is for the weak of mind and easily swayed.

How else do you think millions of morons pray to something not even tangible, yet will denounce the Egyptians who did the same with the sun?

You ask if religion is for weak people....I think that the number of people who have died for their beliefs; in the most horrific ways, and never waivered, would make them strong beyond belief...don't you? Thrown to the lions, crucified, tortured, genocide....the list goes on. God is real....I know...and what anyone else may think about it doesn't impact me one way or another...and I don't mean that in a snotty way.

No I find religious people very strong and many do very well for themselves. Why do you try to put them in a category like that? They are tightly wrapped in a cocoon of their belief and are mindful that their Boogie Man Satan don't jump out and bite their butts. The ones I know personally are very fine people.
