Helicopters are designed to fly about three hours on a tank of fuel. You can install range extenders (extra fuel tanks) in most, but these usually don't add more than 20-30 minutes of flight-time.
A typical helicopter (turbine powered, mind you) will go about 300 miles or so on this amount of fuel.

Let say one full of his fuel tank is equivalent of 200 miles. The safest is 90 miles is enough to back on base for refueling.

A few hours, not as long as a fixed-wing aircraft of the same gross weight because rotorcraft are less efficient.
