This school year at college, especially this semester, has been far too stressful. My classes are hard as hell and I'm having trouble keeping up. I have midterms coming up that I am still completely confused about. Then on top of that, I have a few family issues to deal with, and so many other things to worry about. And at school, I have a few friends I hang out with, but I have problems actually talking to people about my problems. How can I deal with all this stress? Right now, getting through this semester seems hopeless. Any advice is welcome!!

I understand what you are going through and i sympathize. i had a friend who was very close to me pass away unexpectedly and it really helped put things into perspective. classes are not the most important thing in the world. failing a test will not ruin your life. try to look at the broader picture and not get overwhelmed by the numerous little things that keep adding up. set goals (just make it to spring break, or past midterms, etc.). remember that there are far more valuable things than your gpa. remember to tell the people you care about that you love them. if the unthinkable happened and you lost someone you care for (god forbid), you don't want your last memories to be that you were too stressed about a midterm to take a few moments to appreciate them.

all that being said, do your best to study and manage your time. try to remember to eat and sleep. blow of steam by doing something fun and pointless (we write our problems on lightbulbs and smash them - sounds dumb but it helps). if you find yourself being completely overwhelmed to the point of illness (particularly panic attacks) let someone know. colleges are aware the difficulties placed on students and they have the ability to help you.

Most schools have students that tutor go to that area and find one this will help with the school stress. Ask some of your class mates to form a study group and have a study party this also helps with the school work stress. Most schools have councilors to talk to for free can tell about you class stress and your family issues with out feeling that you are bugging someone so go and find one at your school. This should help. Do something fun with friends take a break from studying and school work for a few hours rent a movie go out, do something silly like sledding or build a snowman will clear your head make you relax and allow you to think better. Best advice is read some jokes and laugh releases stress makes you feel better every time during exams read some Archie comics that i kept or Robert Asprin books that i find funny it helps on the study breaks or watch a funny comedy.

Looking at each issue all at once is bound to be overwhelming. Why not make a list and approach them one at a time. For instance, separate the issues that must be dealt with now from the ones that can be put off. I also suggest you talk with your family regarding stress within that unit. Communication is everything. Sometimes the issues are not that great, but being overwhelmed with many can multiply the stress, so really evaluate and refocus. Remeber ... worry does not change any situation it only complicates it. The choice is yours ...

breathe.

breathe.

and exhale.

like myself, college can be stressful, hell it is meant to be stressful.

what you need to do is take care of yourself in order for you to succeed in school and friends.

so if you dont know some material in class, dont hesitate to ask the professor because YOU know it will be on the test.
stick around for an extra session if it might help.
get a study group going and have meetings over course material.

as for family, i cant help you there because I have no right to tell you what to do about your family. what i can say is that, do what is best for BOTH you and your family. Other then that, take it easy, lifes already so hard, and you're only in the beginning.

any sort of depression can be tide over by faith in GOD and sincere prayer.

Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

Study! But only study for an hour or so and take a break and relax and do it again. If they're your friends you should be able to tell them anything, and they should respect your busy schedule.
