Usually your gyn will give you clearance to begin exercises after the 6 week checkup, and advice on what and how much to aim for. I'd say you are well in the window to start in with that, but for safety sake I'd advise checking with the doctor first. Depending on what type incision was done for the section, you might have other factors to consider. If the incision was done from belly button to groin, there are different things to consider than if you have the bikini or curved incision in the lower abdomen. In the first case, the muscles may have been cut, and that will effect how well you can do some things. The other incision allows them to spread the abdominal muscles. Either way, to shift the mummy tummy is not a fast process, and you may never return to the completely flat belly you had pre-baby. Those muscles have been stretched quite a bit, and they never quite go back to the unstretched before. Close, but not perfect. So give your doctor a call, for the clearance and advice. Good luck!

Your doctor should have told you when it was ok to start exercising again, especially lifting weights. You may not think you have problems bending, etc., but once you add weight, you could tear something. Your body takes a long time to heal after such a major surgery. If I were you, speak with your doctor to find out what exercises you can be doing right now. I know you could walk, so do that, and watch what you eat.

If it's been three months you should be okay, but you should double check with your doctor and make sure you start out slow and easy. You don't want to end up with an incisional hernia....
