I will get a BS in Software Engineering in 4 years time from Champlain College (if I join in Champlain's Distance Learning Program). I am not a US citizen and can I apply for a job in the US Air Force as a aerospace software engineer ?

I think you have to be a US Citizen to be an officer and your job requires you to be an officer.

I am going for medical in the Air Force and my recruiter asked me if I was a citizen or not because it is required.

Some security clearances can only apply if the person is a US citizen, some are only granted if the applicant has military history. It is not easy for a civilian to be granted certain clearances, let alone not being a citizen.
