"Sin" is either: 1) anything short of absolute perfection in all aspects of thought and behavior (hamartema), or 2) the inclination toward self-preservation that comes from the fear of death (hamartia).

"Crime" is any act that violates the inherent rights of another human being. (I refuse to acknowledge the definition of 'crime' as any act that violates an established law.)

A crime is a sin, but a sin is not necessarily a crime.

A crime is against the laws of the society. A sin is against a moral code (usually a moral code that believes in a god)

Sin is doing something God has said not to do, or not doing something God has said to do....Crime is disobedience to the law of man...If there was a law that said you cannot worship God---you must worship a golden image and if you don't worship it you will be put in jail, it may be a crime-- but God says if you don't worship Him and and choose to worship something other than Him, it is a sin!! It is better to please God than to please man.....The bible also says that if you know to do right, but don't do it, to that person it is a sin....
