I've been dating my girlfriend for 6 months now and she is great. But while I'm used to being very affectionate and receiving the same in return, she is not like that. We've talked about it and have whittled it down to intimacy issues. I've been working on it with her up to now but I'm starting to worry that maybe she isn't going to be able to resolve them.

If affection is important to you, then I think it could cause serious problems especially in the future. Though you might look past it now, it will catch up to you in the long run. I consider this a big issue. On the other hand, complete opposites do attract. I know several couples that are like you explain, one is affectionate and the other is not. I suggest that you follow your heart and do what you think you should do. Maybe she will come around, maybe she will not. You shouldn't try to change her. Does she show you that she cares about you because that is what is important....

It's one of the best reasons.

If she isn't affectionate enough for you now, well guess what it only get worse. If you have talked to her and it isn't better, she doesn't care how you feel.

Having a good and satisfying sex life is important to any marriage or relationship. Why would you ever want to live with someone who won't make you happy in that department. She isn't going to change later, thinking she will or might would be very foolish on your part.

Move on, after all there is a reason it's called dating.

Speaking for myself, I couldn't be in a relationship without the affection. I'm very affectionate and if I don't receive it in return I start feeling neglected and lose interest. It's all about finding someone that fills our needs in every way.

Sometimes it's not a matter of issues. Different people have different levels of how they express affection. If you like a lot of affection look for a girl who does too.

I had a problem quite similar to that. You have to decide whether or not you like her enough to work on it with her, or if you just want to move on. You MAY be glad you stayed.
