Well, you've already seen the spread. Pro-tat folks are just that (especially females who already have them), tats are great. Anti-tat folks are just that, hate tats and you might even be going against god's will! :) All things considered, Diamondlil is right: tats are cool up until about 35-45, after that the saggies & the stretchies are going to spell doom to the cool factor of your tats. So I would have to say in the end, you have 2 choices: a.) f**k 'em all, ink yourself to your hearts content, fully realizing that that tat that went down so tight & sexy at 24 is NOT going to look (even close) to the same on that same patch of flesh at 55, or, b.) stop while you're ahead and think to the future. And there's always option c.) which is the frequent mindset for folks in their 20's: "Live fast, die young, leave a pretty (tat'd) corpse." Let's face it: you say you have several now (so you've ALREADY moved past the the "I'm afraid I'll be seen as a tramp if I have tats" judgement), and you've already said you want more... so just follow your heart already! I promise that when I meet you as my possible future wife and see you nekkid for the first time, I won't pre-judge you, based solely on your tats. :)

Although I'm not a fan of poorly done tattoos, I don't think they would necessarily make one look "trashy". If tats in general make one (or, as implied by many posters, a woman) look trashy, then are we suddenly up to our ears in hos? Funny, I now know three PhDs where I work with tattoos, two in the hard sciences...
Keep in mind that new trends tend to be looked down upon by those who are being left behind culturally. Doubly so this is true for those who's place has classically been as a second class citizen. I hear they don't allow women to drive in Iran, for example.
In the end it should be what makes you happy. Don't let people tell you what to do with your body, even us. Self-confidence weighs far heavier for the people that matter than anything else.

the only thing that should matter is whether you like them or not. if they are actually good, well done tattoos then go for it. the only tattoos in my opinion that make someone look cheap are the ones that look like a half blind moron did them. there are seriously some awful tattoos out there.
i have tattoos and love them but i do seriously consider my tattoos before getting them and would be hesitant to get a visible tattoo unless i had thoroughly thought it out before.
the sad thing is that many people are judged by society when they have visible tattoos. it's something that is changing but it is a slow process. just keep that in mind before you get anything that isn't as easily hidden.

there is most assuredly tasteful & tacky in the world of tattoos. i have a very similar feeling to yours that i want to be able to cover mine if need be (mine is on my back where a one piece would easily cover it, or i could wear a baby tee and show it off). it is up to you what you think. many people will form opinions of you based on the fact that you have tattoos, what they are of, how big they are, how many you have, etc., etc., etc... the thing to remember is that's like judging someone for wearing clothes you don't like - stupid.
some tattoos are a display of personality, others are just something someone likes (i certainly wouldn't say that the plucky duck my brother-in-law has symbolizes his personality [and it was a bad choice, yikes!, but it was his choice], but he liked plucky a long time ago). i drew my own tattoo, i love it. screw what anyone else thinks. most people will judge me first on my personality though because generally one can't see it. i don't think it's you being ashamed to be able to hide you tattoos, it's smart. there are certainly situations where it is necessary to hide them (or at least have them be discreet). it's a sad fact to face, but tattoos are certainly still less accepted by the older generations. and to be honest, if i were looking to hire someone and had two people EQUALLY qualified, with similar personalities i'd more likely hire the one who didn't have visible tattoos because it'd be better for business (although if the person with visible tattoos had the better personality i'd certainly choose him, unfortunately not many business people feel this way).
next time you're out take a look around at the people working around you. it's not shameful to make sure you can hide your tattoos, it's business smart. other than that - screw 'em! get what you want, make yourself happy, and screw everyone else. your happiness is more important that the way others view you.

I bet you already know the answer to this but Im gonna tell you anyway. Of course the people who dont like tattoos or think they're gross are gonna think you look nasty and cheap. The people who dig tattoos and respect the art of it are gonna love em, but remember, the people who judge you first in a negative way based on your looks and tattoos are dumb fucks that you don't need involved in your life any freakin way. I say this not only because I have a few very noticeable tats but because I know how people can be and if you let them get cha you'll fail in anything.

I think that tattoos are more accepted in society these days. I mean, I see cops that have complete sleeves from the elbow down and they were short sleeves while on duty. I don't think that tattoos are as accepted for woman in the work place as they are for men. I have two and I just keep them covered as most companies request that you do to keep things professional looking.

Depends on the presentation. I have a friend with sleeves, her arms are completely covered and quality work. She looks like Angelina Jolie, just as striking... she wears her clothing strategically and always looks model gorgeous. Now, I've seen women who are not as blessed genetically who have tattoos. And, when they have those love handles hanging out of the too tight low rise jeans and scraggly hair in a scrunchie.. yes, it does look trashy. It's all in the overall presentation.

My dear, its all about the attitude... your attitude more specifically. I'm too am a young female with body art (nothing too visible if I dont want it to be) In my experience only older individuals make negative comments about my tattoos but more and more young folk are getting work done and pretty soon we will be the ones who are the majority in the work place.
Bottom line, you shouldn't care what people think about you...if some uninformed individual comes along and feels the need to make assumptions about you.. it is your duty to set the record straight. It can be annoying having to explain why you have tattoos and what they mean etc. but some people are truly ignorant-
I was at a party talking to a random girl about tattoos, not knowing that I had any she said to me "I used to think like, people with tattoos and peircings are like weird and stuff.. but I've talked to acouple of them, and they are like, real people" Her exact words.
My 57 yr old mother used to hate my tattoos and now she wants one.
I have talked to acouple guys who said they would not date a chick with lots of tattoos... but eff them. Its our responsibility to feel awesome and good about ourselves

I have one, and i am 24. I don't think it makes me look cheap. It is on my shoulder blade though. I think the one on the small of the back that goes close to the butt crack looks cheap, but that is personal preference.
