I started two weeks ago and have not missed a day. I follow the directions exactly as they are written, but my acne has got worse. Not like extremely worse, but I can notice it. Does Proactive take time to work before you notice results? Thank you for your help.

Proactive really worked for me. Its didnt get worst before it got better. Some people cant use it though. Like I've noticed alot of people say to use that OXY cream. I cant use that or any other store bought facial creams. I have to see a dermatologist or use proactive cause my skin is so fair! I'd consult a dermatologist or even someone at a spa who would know about skin treatments and types!

BTW
When I stopped using Proactive my skin got worse. Other people I know said the same before I tried it.

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

actually, I use proactive and it works perfectly. I have been using it for over a year now. Maybe its just not right for your skin type. different skin types wont work for every kind of face product. for example nitrogena face cleanser didnt work for me at all. It really depends on your skin.

Try it for a month, and if things dont get better and yo ustill want to keep it, use the repairing mask that proactive makes. if you just put that on your acne overnight, in the morning it should be either gone, or almost gone. i use it all the time.

hope my advice helped.

my friend got proactive (she didnt have acne in the first place just a few zits like everyone) but she insisted that she need it she tried it for a week and it got worse and worse she has now stopped using it and the acne gets greater and greater everytime i see her i dunno what it is with proactive but for some reason i think it is coming off as a scam. the best medicine i have ever used is apricot scrub or tea tree oil soap, both have been great for me and i have been using them forever and would never think of swapping for a tv product

i use proactive and i love it! it works wonders for me..but its not for everyone...i would use it for another 6 weeks or so and if it doesn't get any better then i would find another product. I use the three-step set (the revitalizing toner, oil absorbing lotion and the repairing lotion) along with the cleanser. good luck!

Well unlike all your other responses, I thought pro active worked....when I accually used it. It's said to take about a month for it to start working good. It depends on your tpe of skin also.
