Do any of you have this issue with your cats? Mine gets all excited about her toy mouse--then runs, jumps and soars all through the house howling madly. It's kinda funny, but why do they do that?

She just knows how to have a good time. Sounds like a great cat.

Sounds like the fierce battle cries of a massive, deadly feline preditor ... which is what all cats seem to see themselves as,hehe.

I envy you,my elderly cats have long since given up the thrill of the synthetic hunt although they do wail hysterically at the sound of an electrical can opener at least.

Our kitten is hilarious when she is in a play-full mood. Running up the walls etc. She doesn't howl but she says a quick purring meow when she takes off. She has us all in fits. I think they do it because it is fun, and good practise for hunting. They do it when they are happy. Best wishes.

Because they are hunters. My cat growls, catches the toy, hides it behind the living room curtain then sits nearby and guards it.

it's in their nature to get excited over possible prey. cat's are like humans they all have their own personality.
