How hight has your blood pressure gone up to and for how long?

My husbands was at 169/112 when we went to the ER, they did nothing because he takes Methadone for degenerative disk disease of the spine and assumed he was a heroin addict.
Anyhow, I don't know how long it was that high because the Dr. told him to go home and drink Gatorade!
He was also on high blood pressure medication at the time.
