I got a 3 month old puppy. I have had him for about a week now and he has been very good! He has been eating, playing, and acting like a puppy should. This morning, at about 6 am when I woke up, he was heaving a little bit, and some 'foamy' like stuff came out of his mouth. All day, he has not really eaten much but he has been VERY active and playful. He has been on the same food since he has been born, and I haven't let him eat anything other than his normal puppy food.

What could be wrong? I'm worried!

Just keep an eye on him for tonight, don't feed him, give him a little water tho. He could have an upset tummy, so don't feed him, let his tummy rest for a while. Feeding will only put more stress and strain on his stomach muscles, which makes them get sick. Have you had his stools checked for parasites? Some times parasites will make a puppy get an upset stomach as well. Have you had him vaccinated yet? That would be a good thing to do for him. If he becomes lethargic, contact your veterinarian right away. But, seeing he is still active, I'm sure he will be okay. He might just have an upset stomach. I hope this advice helps you and your puppy.

Keep an eye on him for a day or two. Make sure he is getting water and doing his normal bathroom routine. He may just have a bit of a stomach ache.

If he starts acting funny or doesn't eat after that call the vet.

Make sure he hasn't swallowed something he shouldn't have. If you don't have a crate it may be a good idea to get him one and crate train him. I recommend that for all dogs because not only does it protect your house from our dog, it protects your dog from your house when you are not around to watch.

Good Luck

He probably has an upset stomach. You could give him some water. You can try switching food gradually. There is also a kind of medicine that prevents stomach pains. But it would be best to visit the vet for the most accurate answer.

Is your puppy drinking normally? if so that is good. You might want to change his food to a more easily digestive type, go to the pet store and ask for help on this, they can recommend a food that is easier on the tummy, also this could be part of the with drawl symptom from missing his mom and siblings.

I'd take him to the vet. He might have an obstruction caused by a foreign object he ate or he could be ill. Considering he's a puppy, I'd take him to the vet just to be on the safe side.

Upset tummy. Let his tummy rest tonight. Since he is acting OK, I'd give him a day before calling the vet. If he is not eating OK tomorrow, then call.

My puppy did that once and I think he had gottne into the garage and found some rat poision. I fed him warmed milk and a raw egg mixed in to coat his stomach and he was fine after that. You might want to try the egg if not the milk but it wont hurt a thing.
