Yes, every event has a cause, but not knowing the cause does not mean the event has supernatural or divine origins.

People love to invoke this little quote, especially in the wake of misfortune or tragedy, because it often helps them rationalize failure. The same goes for events outside our control. For example, if an asteroid hits this planet and wipes out half the population, people will claim all sorts of "reasons" from god to bad luck, but the only real REASON it happened is because the orbit of our planet intersected with the asteroids path. Random chance is a REASON.

Assigning implausible or outrageous explanations for why things happen only diverts us from TRUE understanding.

Yes. We may not know the reason for something happening at the time it happens, but it all happens for God's plan. It is what we choose to do or act or become due to our circumstances that is important.
