A good many of the puritans in the world will tell you that by blocking the possibility of conception you are interfering with Gods plan. You can't do anything about that kind of thinking.
To some, once egg and sperm meet, that's as functional a human being as you are, so if you abort, even as early as six weeks, that's taking a human life, not all religions believe that, but the noisiest ones do. Others believe it has to do with if the fetus can survive on its own, others at three months. Others believe the soul enters up later. So you see there isn't agreement on a religious basis.
On a scientific basis, well they don't make moral judgments and that's what this is about.

A pill that prevents ovulation prevents a life, not a birth. An abortion prevents a birth by killing an innocent child. Actually, most forms of "the pill" are abortifacient, so there actually isn't a difference.

Birth control prevents the life from even being started. Abortion is after the fact.

It isn't, if you believe that a person becomes a living soul when he BREATHES the BREATH of life through his nostril, like the Bible says in Genesis 2:7 (fetuses don't breathe). According to the Bible, people are not counted as people until they are a month old (Numbers 3:15).

The Bible says that it is better to not be born than to live a bad life (Ecclesiastes 6:3-5, Matthew 26:24), and there are instructions in the Bible on how to abort any possible pregnancy caused by adultery (Numbers 5:12-31).

You really don't see a difference preventing a pregnancy and sticking a pair of scissors into the back of a partially born child's head?

Is there a difference between walking across the Golden Gate Bridge and being pushed over the edge.

Abortion is capital punishment; the crime, being conceived. Most people who defend abortion will also do anything to stop the execution of a mass murderer. I wish I could understand the rational, but I simply can't.

Abortion is not preventing birth, its getting rid of a pregnancy that already happened, the pill prevents the pregnancy from happening all together

Because the pill prevents conception from taking place. Abortion terminates a life that has already started.

Two different things here.

And there are some Christians out there who believe that any form of birth control is wrong. That it is preventing life and going against God's will.

I believe a woman should always have the rights to her own body but abortion poses problems because
l) health issues - it is still possible to die from an abortion but rare. There are sometimes complications.
2) fertility - sometimes it can cause future fertility problems because of possible scaring in the womb.
BUT REMEMBER----The fetus is functioning by the time you probably have the abortion so therefore you ARE killing a living being. This is often remembered with remorse in later years.

Taking a pill is preventing life from even beginning. Abortion is murdering a life that has begun. One involves a child and the other involves the way your body reacts to semen.

The pill prevents the sperm and egg from creating a fetus to begin with, whereas abortion waits until after the sperm and egg have combined and the fetus begins to develop. Many people see abortion as murder, but the pill as prevention of life.
