The first answer was a dumb answer. Disregard her. I think she just wanted the 2 points.

It all depends on what was ingested. Different poisons cause different reactions. Try looking at the website I have listed as a source.

I work at a Veterinarian Clinic and we have been flooded with plant poisonings. Some dogs will vomit, or just feel lethargic. There are so many different plants that are budding and blooming now and animals like to taste them when they are outside. Some dogs will need an IV or just a shot. It depends on the poison. A bright red tongue is a sign of poisoning. Just take your pet to the Vet first thing in the morning. The sooner your pet is treated the better the result. You can take your dogs temperature. It should be 101. (don't do this under the tongue) If the temperature is normal and your dog isn't extremely sick, then you are safe to wait until first thing in the morning.

The symptoms will depend on the poison. Panting is a sign of either over heating or pain. I would contact a vet immediately. Poison is a very bad way for a dog to die.

When you suspect that you pet has eaten or drank something
that is harmful to them, right away, give them one of two
things. Either give them a spoon ful of peroxide, or a spoon
ful of salt. This will make them throw up right away, and
what ever they swallowed won't have a chance to get into
their system. But if you wait to long, less than half an hour,
there will be nothing you can do, except to take your pet
right away to a vet. An emergency vet if your vet is closed.
It could cost the dog it's life if you don't get them there on
time.

It is very irresponsible for you to be on yahoo answers when you think your dog has been poisoned. When you choose to have an animal, you are claiming responsiblity of their lives and they depend on you completely. If you had a child, would you be on here desribing his/her symptoms or would you be at the hospital? What about if you thought you had been poisoned? I am pretty sure you wouldn't be on here. Take the animal to the vet!

She will die. That's a very strong symptom. Or she may get sick and get better.
