hi, i think my sons have a stomach virus, it started w/my 1 year old son-he would throw up his formula or anything he would take. Then my 2 1/2 year old son started (a couple of hrs ago) throwing up to, he told me his stomach was hurting, i gave him some water and he threw it up--i tried giving him ice and crackers but he also wanted to throw up. SHOULD I TAKE THEM TO THE DOC. OR SHOULD I JUST WAIT? (my 1 year old son is doing a little better, he did eat to day and did keep it down) PLEASE HELP!!

It sounds like you should probably keep trying ice chips and gingerale. If the older boy can't hold water in the morning, call your pediatrician. Dehydration in kids can be deadly. If either of them seems weak and unresponsive during the night, with a fever and is not drinking, you might want to take him to the ER.

It sounds like a stomach virus to me. If your 1 year old son is keeping things down and is doing better, I would say they are fine and the virus will take it course, though you may want to call your doctor just in case and see if there is anything else you can do.

My household just went through this nasty bug last weekend, also. You described the same thing we had.
My Pediatrician told me to avoid dehydration do the following:
1 tsp of water and wait 15 minutes to see if it stays down. If it comes up, wait one half to one full hour and try again.
If it stays down give 1 tsp 10 minutes later. Increase water by tsp each consecutive 10-15 minutes.
They also advised not to give the 1 year old gingerale. Didn't say why, but I didn't and she was better the next morning.
Our older kids complained the next day of body aches, but were up playing.
Good luck!

It sounds like it is just stomach virus, but vomiting is a symptom for EVERYTHING. Try this: don't feed your 2 1/2 y.o. for a couple hours (I know it sounds mean, but he won't starve) and see if he has any vomiting or diahreah. If so, take them to the doctor. If not, wait it out a day or two. If it keeps up or other symptoms appear, then take them to the doctor. Good luck!

Yeah i had the same thing once before and everything i ate i threw up. I felt like i was going to die because my stomach was basically empty. But that only lasted one day. So if that has been going on for about one year I would take both of them to the Doctor right away.

Call you doc! Also, the most important thing for both kids is to make sure they don't get dehydrated. Use a pediatric oral electrolyte solution, NOT ginger ale, Gatorade or juices. they don't contain what's needed to keep a child hydrated. There's Pedialyte but I prefer organic and natural products and have used Baby's Only Essentials Rehydration Solution. Hope this helps.

most likely it is a virus. if the first child sick is showing improvement i would wait a day unless there is a fever also. this is the time of year for allthose yucky bugs to run ammuck. i had 4 kids sick from friday to monday this past weekend with the same thing.

Drink a brilliant number of fluids and sleep it out, or pass see a physician if its that undesirable. overwhelm up some ice and then pour ginger ale on it, that's what my mom continuously did for me and it labored. yet i think of this is purely because of the fact mom's are magic. call your mom!
