In comparison to your life before dependence on God, and after becoming saved, when did you first notice the Gift of Joy provided by the Lord? We can not avoid the stresses of life, but with this joy from Holy Spirit, it will not weaken or cause a feeling of being overwhelmed. Can you remember when you noticed this change?

John you are right about that! In fact, when you give your life to Christ, Satan will tempt and attack you more. But God will never those who trust in him to endure more than they can handle. So there can still be peace and joy.

I had joy the day I gave my life. But I fell for the "once you're saved, all is well in life". Not so. This is a false teaching and it's prevalent even today. It's only through maturity in Christ that I learned this. I think it also leads many to fall away once they start encountering problems. They're shocked because they've been told life is a walk in the park once you accept Christ. But I do believe revelation is occurring in this area and this teaching will fall away.

You know - interestingly enough I feel this everyday. But I'm not Christian.

I feel compelte peace and serenity - along with the overwhelming love of God - and my love for her. Her prescence always with me.

I had this to a point when I was Christian. I thought that was it - the full extent of it. And I didn't think I lacked anything. Having joy in God - having strength. I started feeling that way all the time after my confirmation. Being fully dedicated to God and baptized in the Holy Spirit.

In a way I feel like this "dependence" you speak of is exactly that. People "depend" on this being forgiving all their sins. They depend on this being to look after them and their families.

Sounds like people get joy from depending on God because it tends to release some of the stress of being responsible for everything themselves.

Just my opinion, I don't know if God exists or not and yes, I've read the Bible. I'm Lutheran actually.

It began the moment the veil was lifted off my eyes of understanding and has remained ever since, over twenty years. Even in my darkest hours I have had His joy and peace which defies my understanding.

Most people are happier once they are freed from the cult of Christianity. You'll never know the peace if you are hung up on holy spirit metaphors for what you are experiencing.
